I already purchased an 8" Media Pad M3 Lite with Android N on board as the price was great for the specs, but the M5 8 model featured in the video appears to be a significant upgrade in specs. Despite Google neglecting to make a "Flagship" 8" Pixel Tablet, I'm glad Huawei and other manufacturers are filling the void with quality products like this.

Great review, thanks a lot. I am going to buy a tablet and my main concern is screen quality and weight, as I use it as a pdf reader. While white balance of M5 can be adjusted, I read in other reviews that even after doing this, there will still be blue tint on the screen, which will be very annoying for reading pdf files. Also those reviews say that contrast ratio of M5 is not great, again very important for pdf readers. Could you help me with this concern, and also let me know which of these tablets you recommend as a pdf reader: M5, Tab S3, Ipad, or Asus Zenpad 3S. Thanks again.

Watching this review from my Huawei MediaPad M3 8.4 with a wireless headset :-) This tablet is a joy to use and I imagine that the M5 will be, too. Of course I'm not updating, but I feel like I can recommend it to anyone who wants a wonderful little beast for media and little productivity. Btw, the lack of 3.5 mm jack is a bummer.

@@luisconceicao5461 é a melhor tablete atualmente no mercado,um som incrível, um ecrã 2K magnífico e uma performance bastante elevada,os jogos rodam todos ao máximo, já faz 3 meses que a tenho e francamente é um espetáculo, a versão 8.4 polegadas tem exactamente o mesmo processador que a pro, só o tamanho é que muda, eu pessoalmente prefiro as tabletes mais pequenas mas é uma questão de gosto

@@Raymoon69 it's level 1 security but KZbin and Netflix are running at 1080p(FHD) for the 8.4 inches version it's more than enough, for the rest(gaming, etc) nothing to tell, it's perfect, great sound and screen and all games are running like a dream on high settings

Did you feel the need to put a screen protector/tempered glass screen protector onto you mediapad? I want to pick this up to play Arena of Valor and I want to make sure the screen stays immaculate. I know its fully laminated, sometimes devices like this are so good they don't need a screen protector, but for you personally, do you feel as though it needs one?

I'm still using the MediaPad M5 8 and never had the feeling of needing a screen protector. It seems to be good enough on its own, like with some higher-end smartphones. Its certainly one of the nicer screens on a tablet, it feels very "smooth". Might sound a bit weird, but cheaper devices often times don't feel as "smooth". However, I bought the official flip cover after noticing scratches on the back of my iPad 2018. Didn't want the same happening on the Huawei.

Got my m5 8.4 wifi only. When using Bluetooth wifi goes down to around 3mbs or less, making streaming video unusable. Call to huaweii tech support resulted in a don't use them at the same time because this device only has one antenna. If that is true, this is a ridiculous design flaw. I see people posting about this on xda. Anyone have the same experience or even better a solution?

Brad Lewin that's a joke... Would be a deal-breaker for me. I'm going to read a bit more about this. My usecase would be video streaming and simultaneous audio streaming to a Bluetooth enabled device.

Yes this now has android 9 with EMUI 9.1 and it may soon be updated to android 10, but that hasn't been confirmed yet. There is no dark mode yet. It can play 1440p and also 60fps but KZbin app doesn't always show 1440p as an option.

Hi. Have you had any more new updates since doing this video such as enhancements to battery life, performance, security updates, the newer EMUI 8.1 or 9.0? Screen quality good in terms of sharpness, clarity & resolution? Any dark or night mode? Have you tried a different launcher? Can it play KZbin in full 1080p 60fps and 4K 30/60fps? Would you say it can withstand the off splashes of water?

The MediaPad M5 is better than the Teclast T8. Its faster and has a more color accurate display. But if you have the T8 already, I don't think its worth it so switch unless something is really bothering you that justifies the extra money.

No desktop mode sucks big time as you have to fight with it to the 8.4" to even remotely perform like a real tablet. It is more just like an oversized phone.

The biggest problem with the M3 was it didn't support 5ghz wifi at 802.11ac in the United States. Did Huawei fix the problem with the M5?

Yes they did add 5ghz However on my talet wifi slows to 3mbs or less when using Bluetooth. Huawei tech support says only use either wifi or bleutooth, not both. Not much of a solution.

Khairil Ashraf samsudin I would go for this one. The iPad mini has not been refreshed since 2015 I think. The screen is brighter on the M5 and the resolution is better. BTW this is coming from someone that is neck deep in the Apple ecosystem.

you'll get support until at least ios 14 with the mini 4 and if you're already "invested" in the apple ecosystem (use mac / iphone) then it could be worth it. check it out at an apple store. otherwise I'd recommend m5

I don't get it, it's supposed to be better than the last one in terms of gaming but based on your video I've been watching it and it's still running into the dead and Ros below 30fps. Damn, that's disappointing. Nothing good can really come from Mali gpu huh. These are modern gpu's now it's supposed to be atleast at 30fps now. The Lenovo p8 is even better than or Amazon fire hd10 and the hd10 only has mediatek CPU yet it's still better than this in terms of gaming.

Christopher Ramirez this tablet has the new Mali G71mp8 1037mhz (289 GFLOPS against 122 GFLOPS for the Mali T880mp4 900mhz on the older mediapad m3 and 255 GFLOPS for the new adreno 512 850mhz GPU in the snapdragon 660) it can run all the games on max settings,the problem is optimisation,it's a new GPU and some games are not very well optimised,but even like that demanding games,like pubg mobile, run on max settings without a problem...

Christopher Ramirez hello bro,just to tell you that after use this tablet for a couple days I can tell you that is maybe the best 8 inches tablet I had,for gaming this thing is a beast,pubg is running at 60fps,web browsing is a really pleasure, no stuttering and the sound is amazing,the kirin 960 is impressive and the GPU mali G71mp8 do the job( it's a over clocked version,it runs at 1037mhz instead of 900mhz in the normal version) it's even better than I was expecting,for 335€ it's a great deal
