By the way, the person who added a comment on another one these Google searches that found out by herself from reading medical books and figuring out that she has cerebral palsy started reading medical books when she was 13 years of age and figured this out just one year later. I am sorry that I can't remember where this was added.

I personally have a 17 yr old sister , diagnosed 2 years ago and it’s frustrating to my family that she does not want to share . She is difficult to get to share how she’s feeling , what she’s going through , how and when . She just had a episode today that might be linked to the fact that she has a secret uti… my mother is always besides herself because she’s a fixer and this unfortunately happened to one of her daughters that she has no idea how to help … please do more studies . .. pley

I'm sorry to hear what your family is going through. I can understand where your sister is coming from. When I was a teenager battling epilepsy, I didn't want to open up about the side effects of my medication, especially depression. It might be best to get her into see a therapist and have her work on being able to share her feelings so in time she will open up to you and your family. It's very hard to be a caregiver as a parent to see your child going through something as challenging as epilepsy. My children don't have epilepsy, they have hemophilia, but seeing them go through care and in and out of the hospital when they were younger took years off of my life. Please let your mother know that this is going to be a journey and not a fixed situation. It is very hard for everyone involved. If there is anything I can do to help, you are welcome to email me at info@defeatingepilepsy.org and I am happy to arrange a zoom meeting or a call to answer any questions you, your mom, and sister may have. Right now she needs a lot of love and support.
