The Hornet station wagon was our family car. We had a Rambler in Okinawa but when my dad was transferred to AZ he ordered a Mustang II to be delivered there as a surprise. She hated it. A few months later she pulled up in the Hornet wagon.

Here's some fodder for a Ford-themed video: Most of the Edsel model names and trims were later recycled into Ford, Lincoln and Mercury (Corsair, Aviator, Ranchero, XLT, Navigator, Villager, Ranger, and XR7). The Pacer and Citation names were sold to AMC and GM, respectively. LTD, Marauder, Colony Park/Park Lane, Continental, Zephyr, Crown Victoria, Ranger, Bronco Sport, Excursion, Squire/Country Squire, Escort, 500, Montego, Futura, and Explorer were all trim/option packages on unrelated models before becoming their own models.
@ernielaw13 сағат бұрын
You are right , All 6 model names were recycled. Ranger, Pacer, Corsair, Citation, Villager & Bermuda. The Bermuda name was used by Willys in 1955, and possibly used by Henry J as well.

impossible because the AMC eagle didn't make its debut until 1980 so if you like the vehicles it looked like the AMC eagles in really that would have been a hornet wagon sit by the way was only two wheel drive!

@American-Motors-Corporation The Eagle 2 door coupe came out in Oct 1979 as the 1980 model release.. That is the late 1970s. Back then US manufacturers released next model year in October. However, wiki indicates they releases the 1980s models in August of 79.

Thank you. This was quite good. It is sad what happened to the current Hornet. That was a missed opportunity and it was messed up. The interesting thing is Eagle became a brand under Chrysler and it too is gone as well. Other than Jeep, there are no traces of AMC today.

My father owned a Hudson Hornet many years ago with 3 on the tree. The car was very fast. i remember my dad who was a firefighter was late for work and was chased by a motorcycle police officer who could not catch him and was actually his brother in law. My dad indicated that Hudson was trying to replace the steel head with an aluminum head which was a huge failure because the aluminum would go out of specification and leak; was not compatible with the steel head. He said it was the best car and fastest he ever owned.

It's interesting how the Hornet name is used by 3 different car makers. But in a way, all 3 are connected. Hudson used it, then Hudson became AMC through mergers, then AMC was absorbed into Chrysler, who owns Dodge.

The concept mid 2000's Hornet could have really sold like crazy. It is a Kia Soul before the Kia Soul was ever released. You mentioned the Concorde which replaced the Hornet in 1978. Coincidently that name has also been used 3 times. It was first used on a base model Plymouth from 1951 til '53. It's confusing to hear liters when referring to these older engines. They were all known for their cubic inches back then. So it's hard to tell if you're talking about an engine that I'm familiar with or not. Plus engine sizes can be called different things by different brands. Like the 302 and 305 c.i. names were both used for a 5 liter engine. If it's not too much trouble. Could you start using both liters and cubic inches? It would help a lot when deciphering the different engines. You do this when talking about certain engines. But not all of them. Regardless, I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing.

However, Alamo, who was new at the time, jerked him around about his car insurance, telling him that he must take theirs. By the time they settled, all they had was a single AMC Gremlin. He was so mad!! It was barely going to fit us. So he told the agent to “cover it well because he was going to plow it into a concrete wall!” He kept it one day and went to Hertz where he got a Mercury Montego, albeit a 6 cylinder strippo model!! OTHER AMC NAMES USED BY CHRYSLER. Chrysler would ultimately end up purchasing and merging AMC into their company in the late 1980's. By doing so, many other AMC nameplates have been used by Chrysler. The Concorde, which was a luxury sedan built by Chrysler in the 1990's. Eagle, which became its own Chrysler owned brand in the early and mid 90's with models named Summit, Vision, and Talon, as well as the Summit Wagon (a two row 5 passenger car/minivan crossover with a sliding right side door.) built by Mitsubishi.

My persinal favorite AMC and car of the1970s is the Hornet. I owned a 1975 Sportabout. My brother owned a 1977 Hornet wagon. The most practical, best styled, sensibly sized vehicle of the decade. As a side note, the SPORTABOUT name was used by Dodge in 1950 and 1951 on their Wayfarer 3 passenger convertible. It, unlike the 1949/early 1950 roadster, had roll up windows. I'm not fond of recycling car names. To me a Ford Maverick is a compact car from 1970 through 1977. VW attempting to use the Scout name likewise stinks. I'm definitely not a fan of the Dodge Hornet, although I have had, and love, Dodges.
