The only disadvantage is that I can't share this with my family :) They consider me as a weirdo for my excel affection. Watching this and sucking the information is comparable to a great piece of artwork in a gallery *sigh*. Thanks for seeing and feeling your ambition and passion in excel. I'm an IT PM for the last 25 years or so. The best tool to use to manage Projects is not easily disseminated. This makes reporting to the team difficult. Excel is a universal option that allows easy distribution of the Project Plan information, but has limitations on critical path and the decision matrix. PM tools are generally used for reporting but with the right tool and knowledge on how to use them, can track the critical path and foresee risks and issues before they happen or are realised. A good PM knows their project so well that they are literally within an hour of the knowledge of what's going on. A good PM has a crystal ball and can 'feel' what's going on in the project on a daily basis and can foresee the issues and blockages. A chart isn't going to help you there no matter HOW good that chart is. While PRINCE II or PMP can be learnt, great PM's don't use tools to run projects, they use instinct.

It would be amazing to have a tutorial on building a construction s-curve and integrating it in the dashboard. No one does any kind of tutorials including s-curve which is essential in project management and Microsoft Project does not have it built-in

I taught all of the Microsoft Office suite of programmes at my local college, without doubt, my favourite programme was excel. Many people this it is a simple program to add, subtract etc. in actual fact it is an extremely powerful, complex program. Eg, i play golf and I set out build a programme to calculate teams of 4 players on a leader board, which would alter as teams progressed and based in their handicaps, I thought it would take a few weeks, one or two months at most, it took the best part of a year. The formulae grew more complicated as the programme progressed and then there was the appearance of the start sheet, which required cell manipulation to form buttons etc all of which had to look like a button being pressed. I was very proud of the final outcome, however, I quickly realised that it was actually top heavy, meaning, I'd used too many individual formulae to calculate each score when one would have sufficed. It still sits there, works perfectly but needs some improvement, one day, I may do that.

I am running into a problem when changing the Dates in the data tab, the dashboard dates get me an error #NAME? in all the dates K5-AJ5. =_xlfn.SEQUENCE(1,26,MIN(Table1[Start Date])+Workings!P2,1) is the problem, I found that _xlfn is an error from excel when you are using newer formulas in older versions that still don't have it. My excel doesn't have the function SEQUENCE Any help or recommendations?

Yes, the problem is because you don't have the SEQUENCE function. You can use two formulas instead: Cell K5: =MIN( start date column ) + output of form control Cell L5: =K5+1 Copy L5 across columns as far as required.

I just made my own project management dashboard with all of the same stuff and more but had to do it all manually! I wish I saw this first, it could have made my work easier. However, I am proud I was able to do it! Im not an "Excel" person but thanks to youtube, I was able to create formulas. Anyway, thanks for making this helpful video =)

Great stuff with this, some ideas / challenges for you to incorporate (and see if you do it differently to me), 1) add a VBA controller to allow dates in Gantt chart to change from days, weeks, month's. 2) add time slicer to allow you to select tasks that are open in a time range and 3) Add VBA controller to switch grouped column from projects to manager and back. VBA can be done with buttons also of you prefer. No issues with speed of this video btw. Great stuff 👏👊👍🙂
