wow, i have had the dip in my quad and the hard rock for over 20 years now. I have seen PT and specialist on and off and no one has even come close to figure this out. They all say i need to stretch and start riding a bike to cure it. The 2 things that hurt the most. Then i watched 2 of your videos and you describe exactly what I am feeling. This explains why my patela tendon is so tight all the time and my knee dose not bend too far.

Hi, I'm a collegiate track and rugby athlete and this video explained a lot. This previous fall I took a very vicious and direct blow to my quad during one of our games and limped the rest of that rugby match. The next few days I decided to push through the swelling and soreness of the leg and keep applying heavy loads on it during our lifts and practices. In a matter of a few weeks, that area of the quadricep became very hard and I lost range of motion past a slight knee bend. Anything after that would cause an incredible amount of pain and this lasted for another few weeks. After it seemingly resolved, I resumed training and all seemed well for a couple of months. Recently, it began bothering me again to a certain degree and now it seems as if it is resurging to a more mild degree but where it still presents discomfort at the full stretch of the left quadricep. An MRI also showed a huge hematoma and evidence of internal bleeding in my left leg. Does the bone ever get completely broken down or is it likely to always be an issue after such physical trauma?

Hi Cals Moore I'm not sure how I got this because I have had alot of surgeries but, I was diagnosed after having a spinal cord stimulator implant put in my lower back and started having problems using my hands/wrists my orthopedic surgeon took some xrays and diagnosed me with Heterotopic-ossification. The pain was getting soo bad and immobilized me from using my hand/wrist that they had to remove the extra bone growth;-( I believe that I also have a bone growth in my elbow because I can barely extend or use my arm due to being immobilized! I wish that there was more information about this disease or support group because the pain is excruciating and wish that I had someone else who could relate to this. Sending Prayers and if you have any questions or useful information please feel free to message me.

If you have had it for years, and it is painless and/or doesn’t interfere with range of motion, non-surgery is best. I had 2 dif. MRIs done and because my upper right quad injury had been years ago, it is a bit unsightly (a slight bump on my right side, upper thigh)but painless. I think the mistake may have been that I had a contusion and I worked out before the injury properly healed.

@aggierowe9574 3 жыл бұрын
@@jkdoodle4460 it felt just like a dead leg injury (bruise from impact, soreness etc.) It hurt for about a week but I could still walk. I was in my late 20s and biked everyday to/from work. The pain eventually went away. i did not even noticed the muscle injury ie myositis at all, and that I beleive is what caused the ossification. I didnt take the time to properly heal the injury. In fact, I didnt notice the slight bump on my thigh until two years later. There is absolutely no pain and one of the drs ruled out a lipoma, said it was an injury that didnt heal right bc i was so active, and as long as I am mobile ill be fine.

4:04 That seems to describe exactly what I'm going through, 3 weeks after falling from the stairs. A hard sausage inside me (pun intended). 2 weeks after the injury I've had an echo of the haematoma, but other than the cavity not much was visible (yet). Should I wait for another 5 weeks? Can shockwave therapy prevent further calcification? Should I avoid dairy products?

I'm thinking about getting mine removed from my left calf muscle soon. It's about the size of a kiwi and it doesn't "hurt" but what I do feel is similar to a leg cramp before it takes full effect. While sitting at work, I can just sense its shape and obstruction in the muscle from that sensation alone. I remember the doctor telling me to massage it and after watching your video, I think I shouldn't have done that now. I wonder if I should have looked at getting it drained when the hematoma originally happened.

hi i have recently sure i strained my thigh or tore but after resting for 2 months i didnt feel it went back into my sport (soccer) then it hurt again after a couple stronger kicks and i feel a little lump but im sure if this is what it is please help me i dont know how to go about this i feel i can bend it fully and i dont know if i have this.
@SportsInjuryPhysio
@SportsInjuryPhysio 3 ай бұрын
When you tear your muscle, the muscle loses some strength. Resting helps to get the pain to settle but it doesn't strengthen the muscles. So, if you go back to sport without doing your rehab strength training and rebuilding the muscle's strength, then you can easily tear it again. So, go and see a physio and get some rehab exercises so you can get it strong enough to play soccer again. If you wanted help with your rehab and an exercise plan, this is something that our team of physios can assess and help you with via video call. You can read more about how the online consultations work here: www.sports-injury-physio.com/services

He has no quality of life, is completely bedridden............he cannot wait he needs to rehab ugh It has been hell finding anyone with knowledge and experience in this field. any contacts or ideas would be greatly appreciated

It does sound as if he can benefit from a second opinion but I don't have any recommendations for anyone to see. Something else to consider is hydrotherapy - gentle exercise in warm water can often be a good starting point when you're in so much pain.

I had an injury in basketball back in mid October 2020 (I was kneed very hard in the outer right quad) that swelled up to a massive hematoma and I did happen to massage it quite hard. It is now May 2021 and I have a massive lump in the same area and the thigh looks very different compared to my other and hurts and feels very hard. Thoughts?

I had a similar injury due to a bad contusion from a bike riding injury (I think I banged into a fence)years ago, I suspect 10 or so years ago (2009)I remember it was a bad bruise…I thought it healed and because it was in my upper right thigh about 5 inches below the hip, I didn’t notice the calcification until 2011,but it’s been painless. I have had an MRI twice by different doctors to rule out my fear that it was a bad tumor. It’s a sports injury that doesn’t interfere with range of motion. I am still able to run and exercise. I was told that the only reason for surgery is if it affects movement, and it may also go away on its own. If you have pain I’d take an NSAID and see a Dr.

Hi, thanks for your video. Can you provide any reference to your statement that these can resolve on their own? My doctor found heterotopic ossification around my ankle after surgery and indicated surgery (again) is the only option. In my little bit of web search I don't see anything about them going away on their own and the body absorbing the calcium.
@SportsInjuryPhysio
@SportsInjuryPhysio 2 жыл бұрын
Myositis ossificans is when you have a big bleed inside your muscle and that then turns into calcium in your muscle tissue. This is very different from what you have so you can NOT apply this advice to your case. It is not the same thing.
