Suggestion for next pump. Don't place it at the bottom of the well, place it just bellow the lower lever, so that the pump is only submerged when it actually is needed. After all, it is immensely hard to actually make stuff water proof. So by not having it submerged year round, it might last far longer.
@MyPlayHouse5 жыл бұрын
Yes you may have a point there :-)
@todayonthebench5 жыл бұрын
@@MyPlayHouse Yay for point. But yes, no need to give the pump a harder life then needed. And the water at the top might also have less sand and dirt in it, so might survive longer thanks to as well.

Go to a shop where they sell fountain pumps for ponds, they are quite cheap. They are compleatly sealed and transfere the force to the rotor by magnetism. The same princip is used in pumps for aquarium.

Hi Jesper Thorup Nielsen Thank You very much! Yes that is another option. Thank you for watching! :-)

Could be the rust getting into the pump. It is both abrasive and conductive, which is not something small pumps like. Water itself isn't too bad since the coils are enamel coated and the terminals are too far apart for shorting at 12v.
@MyPlayHouse5 жыл бұрын
Well it most be the water that killed it,, some how.
@zx8401ztv5 жыл бұрын
Yep they didn't seal it correctly, just a brushed d.c motor like you would find in an old battery drill. Maybe you want the pump part at the bottom of the metal tube and connect it via a long rod to the motor shaft at the very top of your metal tube. An old plastic washing machine pump body perhaps lol.
@MyPlayHouse5 жыл бұрын
Hi zx8401ztv Yes there is really no reason to stick it way down there,, maybe even the water pressure caused this.. Thank you for watching! :-)

still watching video, if you end up getting a new pump try getting a pond pump; they're usually completely enclosed/sealed, are submersible and the only thing that is exposed to water is a regular magnet :P :) ** would also not set it on the very bottom to avoid it eating sand; for submersible pumps pond pumps have a overall better design as the electromagnet coil spins a magnet attached to an impeller, in theory water never reaches anything electrical as it is all completely isolated:) only down side is that they should never run dry but that shouldn't be an issue ** this pump design is used in computer cooling, swimming pools, glycol/antifreeze cooling/heating, commercial dish washers, and a bunch of other stuff

I know I'm a bit late here but I highly recommend Seaflo pumps for if your new one ends up dying too. They are a bit more expensive but judging from the ones I've ordered they seem to be more watertight then cheaper pumps I've tried.

Dear Morten, one of your Patreons here :). I'd like to remind you that those level sensors are not capable of carrying high currents. They are made for up to 1 AMP if they are the ones that I like to use. Your pump is rated up to 1.5 Amps, so do not let the cheap pumps break your expensive level sensors. So maybe use a cheap relay or a even cheaper transistor. I've had the very same situation and I used a bilge pump from "Johnson" and another one from "Shurflo" - both were okay for a couple of years each. But they are somewhat $30. Kind regards Soeren - Germany

Morten you get what you pay for. I had one of those pumps, the motor doesn't seal the water properly, I now have a above ground pump with limit switches just like you have at your well. I say it is time for a collaboration with him who releaseth the Schmooh. What you, the trained electrician, want to do is get a nice 300W three phase motor, wire it up to engage upon signals from floating switches like fellow playhouse followers suggested, and, just like said fellows said, keep the motor above the water where it's nice and dry,connected to the pump wheel down in the well only by a rod or so.

you can also use an isolation transformer to isolate the pump, and only use a fuse from the transformer to protect your circuit. a standard din terminal fuse(maybe from weidmuller) on 1-2 Amps will work here because the pump max power is so little as 250 watt. and the transformer will keep the rcd(hpfi) away from tripping.
