I sold most of my servers a few years ago, just rocking a 19" wall-mounted (vertically) custom NAS and a HPE MicroServer Gen10 Plus running pfSense :)

Buying stuff is easy but to get rid of the old is never easy. I have tons of stuff I should get rid of but really don't want to. The girlfriend keeps telling me if you are not using it you don't need it.

It is tempting, but a current 2U can match all but drives. Well, no, 24 drives on a 2U is doable, just a pain. Less of a pain than managing blades.
@leonardotoschi585 Жыл бұрын
15:35 yes but can i give one port to the blade? Or is just the network switch you can but separately
@MyPlayHouse Жыл бұрын
If you get a passthrough network module,, you can.

We had six of those bladecenters, but it was very quickly decided that there'd have to be better options. We then bought a couple hundred HP C7000s instead. My biggest WTF with these was when we lost a phase across all of our subpanels and these bladecenters all lost their fans and switches. Apparently, phase 1 powers the first seven blades, phase 2 powers the other seven and phase 3 powers the plumbing.
@MyPlayHouse3 жыл бұрын
I have not run in to that problem,, we also had 12 IBM bladecenter H divided in three data centers,, we have never had a Center with any unscatualed down time. We have had many disk and ram issues, but never the center.

Are the Brocade really a 10 Gigabit switch? Im sure it is but looks a whole lot like a Fiber Channel switch :)
Brocade also had their ICX series of ethernet switches, which they sold to Ruckus, i'm pretty sure this is based on those.

Shipping to australia? :D I also have the habit of not letting anything go because one day, you never know.. Also finding well priced stuff here is hard, everything is over priced, very frustrating!

No,, but come pick it up :-)

Yes totally agree. I bought 2 C7000 a couple of years ago. Still have them. But just for the sake of having one, I've been trying to get hold of a Supermicro they're pretty rare in Oz. Consequently, pretty expensive. Particularly if I'm not going to use as a 24hr machine I can't justify spending $1,200+ on one.
