I thnk this is what makes this song so good. You can't decide whether to feel sad depressed or hopeful when listening to it. The lyrics are so bright but the voice behind it and the meaning is so sad and somber.

Don't think of the song as a sad song. If you watched the anime or read the manga you would know all her songs are songs of love and hope. Yea some of them sound sad but thats because she understood the flaws in love. When I hear this song it makes me happy and theres a small part of me that wishes the anime had never ended. The creator through is amazing. She is very talented and has many other stories so look into those as well if you liked Full Moon Wo Sagashite ^~^

I think we can say that they are equally sad. The important part is that they both teach you about hope and love. Many say they were depressed after watching Clannad, but for example, I felt like I understood the meaning of life. I was happy. Both anime are tragic but with meaningful message.
