I anime ending was so depressing I loved the manga ending because everyone was happy! Mitsuki got the surgery, but still was able to to sing, Meroko and Izumi became angels (And an official couple!), Dr. Wakaoji & Masami Oshige got engaged, Takuto came back a human remembering everything, and finally him and Mitsuki kissed! Also Eichi was crying trying to call out out Mitsuki, but when he saw her happy smiling face, he was happy too, and was a peace finally! It was the perfect ending!

Did she end up getting surgery? I thought there was something about her “healing” because she spent so much time in her alternate, healthy, body that that had helped with the progression of her illness. Maybe she only needed minor surgery 🤔

I'm actually not very fond of the manga version. I wanted to slap Mitsuki so damn hard when I found that out and it kind of cheapened the tragedy for me. Suicide isn't romantic and while anime Mitsuki has a moment similar to it, it's RIGHT after she found out about Eichi and she was snapped right the hell out of it within a decent time frame. Manga Mitsuki selfishly kept a will to die for years and it really highlighted how childish she was in my eyes and ruined any care I had for her feelings towards Eichi.
