In the uplands of Kalihi, there were once sacred heiau, a spring brought forth by the god Kane, and a pair of Kupua who would watch over the valley. Some Hawaiians believed that when these sacred stones were destroyed, it brought forth disaster. Today, we bring you to Kalihi Uka on this episode of Hawaii's Most Haunted.

In this series, Lopaka brings you some of Hawaii's Most Haunted places.
Master storyteller, Lopaka Kapanui, brings to life the feared Nightmarchers, the goddess Pele, Menehune, e‘epa, mo‘o and more. But… Hawaiian deities and spirits aren’t the only things residing in this island paradise. Here is also where the Japanese dog demons, the inu-gami, are sent to ruin the lives of unsuspecting families. Here is where the Filipino vampire-like creature, the aswang, roams in search of her next victim. And here is where the Portuguese witch, the feiteceira, spins her spells and curses at her whim. Rich in culture and traditions, these islands are overflowing with stories of ghosts and hauntings, creatures and curses. Lopaka is the keeper of these stories.
Beyond the cool, blue waters and balmy trade winds of our idealistic paradise is the thin veil which separates our world from the place where shadows talk back. Spirits, Ghosts, Legends, Facts... Experience the Hawaii most don't see every day.

My grandpa worked on the Wilson Tunnel construction but had to retire after being struck by a falling rock on the back of his neck. He permanently lost hearing in one ear from the injury. I always wondered what happened. We never know the backstory behind things. Anyway, since he had to retire "early" he was able to raise all of us grandkids and has been blessed with long life, he's still with us. He also said he saw wallabies all the time when he worked there. Mahalo for sharing this important part of history!

I grew up in Kalihi Valley and the mountain was my playground. I'm very familiar with the heau's as I walked most of that mountain asd a child. I have experienced some of the strange events and knew where not to go as I had leaned to respect the spiritual signs. For those who know Kalihi valley well know the ponds deep in the valley where people came to swim. One pond is called Ice pond as it's alway cold as it's completely covered by trees and it's very close to the tunnel. This is where my cousin passed away while we were swimming. we dove into the pond and came back up the rocks and he was lying on a rock dead. I never went swimming there again since that day.

This guy I know in Moanalua Valley, said he and 2 co-workers was putting up lights in the H-3 tunnel. When they came running out; they couldn't talk. They just pointed. Down the end of the tunnel, he saw a 7 foot Hawaiian Warrior holding a spear. It stared at them, turned away and vanished.

@@SteadyBark96720 you're welcome. Moanalua Valley has some weird stuff that I saw. But like Bigfoot, hard to say without a picture or video. Separate incident, I heard a very loud door like slamming. Someone said it is a portal closing. It's not a gun shot. Also where the guy who used to own the valley, had a house there on the left. Sit on the stairs on the right. You are going to hear feet, rustling in the leaves.

I heard plenty stories about workers seeing 7 foot warriors in and outside the tunnel. How bout the one where one supervisor told one worker to go get one power tool inside a container under the exit on the Halawa side of the tunnel. When he got by the container he saw a guy standing by the door of the container standing holding a stick. Or the three boulders that was taken off the side of the hill at the exit of the Halawa side of the hill for the trucking company to pick the next mourning. Next mourning all three boulders was back on the hill or how bout where one of the tile setter helper walked past the scaffle the tile guys put up and put tiles in this wooden box fill to the top of the box full with tile for the setters easy access to the tiles in that box and it fell from the top scaffle and just barely missing a worker on da ground. The General stopped the tile setters and he told the tile company to call in a Kahuna to bless them and the tunnel before they can continue working. Plenty things happened there but nothing compare to what I see at another place I work. Up in that area I seen an transparent person walking along a road. It turned to look at me before moving to the side. You can see right through this thing and only white look like electricity shaped his body. This thing was huge, maybe 10 feet tall and he had log strides when he walked. It walked just like Big Foot. The road turned right down a hill with tall grass along side the road and all I saw was a big flash of light and this thing disappears.

Tutu told me to place a washed T leaf on a rock and walk away.....only 1 leaf was on the ground, as we know if you grew up there, most of the Ti leaf plants are high in the mountain not low where we walked. Only 1 fresh lay in front of me. I sensed that I must turn around, but not before placing the Ti leaf on the rock. I knew it was a sign, Honestly if you have picked a green leaf, it is not easy, even when it dries up it is still hard to pull from stalk.

Lopaka, Mahalo for all you do, your programs, tours, videos and appearances. This was an important tribute. You're a wealth of resources and a treasure for all of us in Hawaii to honor. Forgive me, please, when I suggest to you, in this video, approximately 5minutes in, the injury of "Mr Lawrence Ah Nee was from a trough that fell": its pronounced Troff/rhymes with off. Anyone not around livestock or large concrete pouring construction wouldn't know that, its kinda specialized. If you think what the cattle drink from? same word. Troughs are long containers common for water, but can be for cement, other liquid substances. Maybe horse or cattle trough (troff)? is familiar? I doubt there around Honolulu or Kaimuki? idk. ...please keep up your great work, and I'll see you once again, at your next Big Island performance. Promise not to bring a trough. Warmest aloha to you and yours.
