@@PulitzerOpal it's one of the beautiest region, I visited Avignon and while heading south by Cap d'Agde, Marseille and then Toulouse. All Mediterranean historical towns. Its truly amazing, like a taste of vacations all year long with the sea and the climate. I leave in Alsace near Mulhouse in The Vosges mountains and we have plenty of historical treasures to see like the houses with colombages old from 14, even more centuries (that means they are from 700 or even older) and the "route of vine" as there is something known as " panorama route of vineyardsand Alsace plain" where each village is reputed for its vine. And our nature is really beautiful too. All this mixed with a border of 3 countries (Germany Switzerland and France) which makes this region very dynamic and full of possibilities. If I understand You well, You must be close to my age (24+9=33) but with a rock star we can never know lol. But seriously, if one day You come to France I will be very happy to introduce You to our best products, places and and even places where you can find pockets of smokey quartz, amethysts and the best regional food. Black Opal Direct- great show. Great cutter and insight into that particular genre of opal. I really enjoy his content and have learnt a lot from him (an absoloute tonnage-invaluable!). His antipathy for Ethipian Opal however comes over far more as a 'fear' than anything else. As quality Aussie Opal gets harder to find and more expensive, Ethiopian Opal with its low costs to market and fair quality starts to cut a greater market share. This must make people with a financial interest somewhat concerned. What they often fail to realize is...They dont need to worry, the best opal will always be the best opal.

I was wondering why you treated them BEFORE you did the high polish. I thought the treatment only goes down a millimetre or maybe two at most. Then we got to see the ugly result. I'm glad you were able to revive them in the treatment. Question: why do you use a rotary saw instead of a band or cable saw? I would think you could get much better cuts with a cable saw, and you would have less gouging on the cut side. Thanks so much for your informative and eccentrically entertaining videos.
@PrometheusZandski4 жыл бұрын
@@PulitzerOpal Thanks for the response. I see that I'm calling it by the wrong name. Diamond wire saws are used to cut glass, quartz, metal and pretty much any solid of varying thinness. You can change the wire from very fine to wider diameter to get more precision. I know that Gryphon, Presi, and Diamond Wire Tech make water cooled saws. You do an amazing job with the rotary saw, so there probably isn't a good reason to change.
