Wow...what a stunningly beautiful Crazy Lace agate! You did a fantastic job of preserving the natural form of the rock while bringing out its polished beauty. I like how you preserved the botryoidal structures with hot glue. I didn't know you could do that. I'm surprised that the glue can withstand the tumbling in coarse grit. Does it com off easily before you placed it in the next stage of tumbling?

I live in SE Texas, in the Big Thicket. I would love to meet you in Tucson this year, 2025, to chat and possibly photograph/interview you. I am in search of a mentor and you might just be the proper combination of learned, spicy and certifiable. I'll be there the afternoon of the 28th thru the 3rd.

Will this work for welo if it was been dried out first and isn’t in water?
@PulitzerOpal4 күн бұрын
I believe so. I have worked with dried material. It takes a very long time to saturate with water, as I recall. There is no reason that you cannot go directly into acetone, rather than going from water to acetone. Hope this helps. dp
@jessshaffer26443 күн бұрын
@ it does! Thank you! I have trashed 4 welos in jewelry and have paid lots of money to replace them. I bought some free stones at a mineral show. Hoping to stabilize before I pay to have it set in jewelry.

So... This is the legendary lightning ridge black opal?
@PulitzerOpal17 күн бұрын
Yes, this is a lightning ridge black opal, but, like all opal, there is considerable variability such that there actually is a thing “bad lightning Ridge black opal.” This is such an example. I have a video called finding the black opal mother lode in which I have a very nice, but still not the best, Lightning Ridge black opal.

I've now gotten my fiance watching u. She's my daughters mother, and after 15 year separation we r back together. Each of us during that time started acquiring gemstones, but opal became both our favorite, and was unknown to the other!!! She makes jewelry and I would LOVE and b in your debt eternally if u gifted me that matrix cabochon for an X-mas gift for her. Your videos have helped educate her and clarify TONS of misconceptions she had about opals, the different kinds and classifications, as well as processes. No matter what you are our favorite KZbin channel and we wait for each video with anticipation.!! Thank u for all u do and merry Christmas to you and your family!!!! PULITZER OPAL IS THE G.O.A.T.!!!!😊

I bought my first Ethiopian opal from eBay
@PulitzerOpal29 күн бұрын
You need to know if it’s Welo of Shewa province opal. Shewa often comes in water or oil. If it’s in water, keep it there, because if it dries out, it will crack. I did a video on how to stabilize Ethiopian opal. Good luck

I have two very large cracked doubles. I wish I could find someone who could fix them. Enjoyed your video!
@petradedonno888429 күн бұрын
Opals 😂 not doubles
@PulitzerOpal29 күн бұрын
If you can see a crack in opal (assuming that it’s dry), it is unlikely that anyone can fix it (so that it’s not visible). If it’s just a line, Opticon 220 might work.

@PulitzerOpalАй бұрын
I had a bunch of weddings and other things - like Thanksgiving - PLUS, the opals that I have been using for the video have not been cooperating very well. It may be two or three weeks more, because of the holidays. Maybe I should do a short video in the meantime. If I do, it’s because you asked me what was going on.

Somehow I was unsubbed but I fixed it after seeing this video. I think a tinfoil setting would highlight the colors nicely on the aroura plastic opalescent resin. It would be a good accessory for one of those "hoity toity" tin-foil hats only events where they discuss the details of the world takeovers of the season. Anyways I'm back on the Pulitzer Opal wagon again, I never held being plastic against Sheila so sign me up.

Your videos are the best opal cutting videos I have ever seen. You have just the right amount of jokes and serious information. One question is currently get on me as I am a bit frustrated when I tried to make a video of an opal with blue and purple color. In the video this colors are only shown as pixels and not how they really look like. Do you have a trick how to get the bud and violet colors correct displayed in a video? Does one need special equipment?
@PulitzerOpalАй бұрын
I don’t really have a trick, but my video camera seems to see the blue and purple colors better than I can see them looking straight at it. The camera doesn’t seem much more than I can see with my eye, but it definitely sees a little bit more and that’s what you see in the videos. What I used is a Panasonic 770 (I’d have to look up the precise model number, but if you look up Panasonic 770, you will find it. (if you need a new camera!)
