If you want a redo with the milk drink you should try "WANT WANT milk drink" (red can) or "Yaklut yogurt drink" (little small funny looking plastic bottles with tin as a lid. Usually comes in a bundle). They're like liquid yogurt candy. There're some preservatives in the one that you drank (I just googled it) that's banned in California cause it's thought (known?) to be cancer-causing. Okay if you do end up with a mill. in 6 months. Can you guys make the eggs into a legit dish? It can be a modernized dish but like... they really should be eaten with things lol. Rinse it and cut it up into small pieces with a wet knife so the yolk can stay with the not-so-white whites.

the one in the baby bottle wasn't soured, they sell them on the shelf like a perishable and you refrigerate if you want to drink it cold or after you drink it and save the rest for later. Drinking it warm wouldn't hurt you unless it was already drank out of and not refrigerated :)

I actually almost bought those eggs on a whim while I was at my local Asian Market earlier this month but decided against being that adventurous. Glad I now know what I would have been in for! I admire your courage. I, personally, couldn't have done the egg. If you have another of these tests down the line, although god knows why you would, try Surströmming. Warning: it's actually illegal to open the tins in doors in certain places and most Scandinvians hate it. The first time I tried it a neighbor's kid went with me to the park, where we had chopped onion, rye bread and cold beer. I opened the tin while it was submerged in water, as they have a tendency to explode. Hmm, a general Scandinavian mystery taste might be fun, as long as schnapps are included.

August is the month for Surströmming). If not, it can be ordered online. Maybe Ikea, as well? Other "delicacies" to explore are lutefisk, black licorice, Swedish fish (the candy), saltwater eel, Hákarl (Icelandic fermented shark), Gammalost (old cheese from Denmark, which is actually quite delicious, although I take it that one of you doesn't like cheese), kanelbullar (simply the best pastry in the world), Kalles (kind of a caviar paste in a tube), Smørrebrød and Akvavit (honestly, most Scandinavian food is improved with Akvavit). Lycka till!

Hi H & K, just to let you know, century-old duck eggs are usually eaten in very small portions (think nimble-size, the size of half a dime) along with rice or noodles topped with other foods. It's mostly used as a garnish, similar to wasabi. In my experience, it is usually not eaten in bites, because it is considered an expensive delicacy (which is why there are only 4 eggs in a package). I hope this helps contextualize your experience versus the 'normal' experience of eating century-old duck eggs. Thanks for your courage!

You both are brave. Century eggs belong to that category of people who have an acquired taste to it. Same goes for balut. I've seen better-looking century eggs though, haha i think its just dependent on where it's made from. When you get to Japan, look out for the different flavoured kitkats! And anything to do with their melon fruit🍈. It's the best. Try Mamee noodles one day. Its a fried seasoned noodle snack, with an optional seasoning pack.
