I have my own Robert story. I’m a florida native who used to live in the keys on the weekends. Anyway, I went to Robert’s house and I snapped a few pictures of the house. The camera suddenly fell out of my hands and into the floor…but it was strapped on my wrist so I don’t know how that even happened. Decided to look at all the pics I snapped of my trip that night and everything was there except the house pictures. 😮😢

Wowsers!! I’m a Florida native too!! I’ve visited and played in the upper, middle keys. We love key west. This year we visited Robert the Doll by the airport. It’s creepy for sure. I did not ask permission to his photo nor did I take his photo

Next time I’m in FL, I should go see Robert in person just for fun. But one question that stayed in my head during this video is, “If the mother knew the doll was causing all this trouble and traumatizing her sweet boy, why didn’t she contact a priest since she was a God fearing woman?” As a mother myself, I know if something was causing any of my sons distress, I’d do what I can to cast out the evil.

I was in Key West and went to visit Robert back in December. Myself and the 3 people I was with were the only people there. I was respectful and nervous. The weird part is that I thought I was going to feel weird and anxiety-ridden, maybe even petrified, but it was so calm. I didn't get any evil vibes. I was actually shocked at how calm it felt in that room. Hmm, not sure if that's a good thing or not!! Great video. That's the best coverage I've seen on this subject., you talked about strange occurrences happening that the other people didn't . Personally I'd feel more at ease with a six foot long diamond back rattlesnake in my house than that doll . Keep up the great work and stay safe.

The version I have always heard is that Robert was given to Robert Eugene Otto as a “present” by a mysterious Haitian (or Bahamian, it depends) maid hired by the Otto family. Eugene quickly became obsessed with the doll and it was never far from him. The maid eventually disappeared, possibly quit or was fired, but the doll stayed. Weird things would happen, and Eugene would always blame Robert. Robert was also made to look like Eugene in this version. I’m not sure which belief system it is that believes that if you make a doll In someone’s likeness you can control/trap them, but that seems to have been the aim here. Side note: I’ve been to the museum and seen Robert. I’m not pediophobic, but he is definitely creepy. The changing expression thing seems to be an angle trick. Depending on where you are standing near the case, Robert seems to have a different expression.

I am from the Bahamas...we have a large haitian migration to Bahamas...voodoo is practiced heavily in Haiti...more than likely the maid was Haitian but lived in Bahamas before moving to florida...orignally Haitian Not Bahamian

I have a friend who makes gifts out of using just the head of a doll. They kind of come out looking like a wreath. I know a few of her work friends have expressed an interest in them and she’s made gifts for them. I’ve always expressed respect for what she makes while trying to convey without hurting her feelings that it’s not something I’d ever want! The heads are mostly new and they don’t bother me so much... but she also uses antique ones and those are the ones that I can’t look at for too long. I remember having to go into her craft room one night and I used a flashlight (I can’t remember why I used a flashlight) and as I was scanning the room, I couldn’t even look at those body less doll heads! The room was also used as an extra pantry for dry goods and I quickly got the popcorn and left before anything spoke to me! Even during the day time, I was a little uncomfortable being in that room!😱

As a 5 year old kid in the late 90's I'd go to my neighbour's house to play and she had a collection of dolls. Not the pleasant Barbie kind ,but old school dolls with eyes that had freedom of movement😂 . She'd pop the heads out of their bodies and then lock me in the room with them😅 I'm surprised I didn't wet myself with fear even though I was petrified! Also when I was 9 my mom bought a plastic bottle of toffees. This bottle was in the shape of a pudgy doll with the lid in the shape of a flowery hat . The fat face had elliptical , black beady eyes and a smile. My mom liked that bottle and hung it in my bedroom after filling it with random stuff. I was always creeped out when alone in the home and would turn it's face towards the wall. 😅

I have not been to the museum, but I once read the people at the museum are afraid of the doll, and one time a lady was working by herself late at night after closing, and she kept hearing a tapping sound. She went to where Robert's display was and he was off the chair standing in in his booth looking at her and tapping the glass. She ran out and didn't even bother to lock up that night.

In August 1997 I spent the month kicking narcotics cold turkey in Key West. The morning my brother and I were leaving town we drove past this museum and out of the corner of my eye I saw that Robert the Doll. I felt this overwhelming evil going through my body. It scared the Holy shit out of me. I've experienced all sorts of supernatural and paranormal things but nothing terrified me as what I've just told you all. I wouldn't even watch this video.

It's so neat to hear alternative background theories about Robert! The only one I've ever heard was the one where the grandpa gave Eugene the doll. I also didn't know that the sailor's outfit was actually Eugene's. Over the years, I've often wondered if anyone had good luck from complimenting Robert! If I ever go see him, I'll tell him how cool his outfit is and how much I love his eyes and dog. Just to see what happens. I will never photograph him though...haha! I'm an open minded skeptic. I go for logical explanations first, then if things seem to defy logic, I acknowledge that something weird is going on. With Robert, I'm of the "better safe than sorry" mentality...haha! Once again, you've done an excellent job with this story! Thank you!

It’s so interesting the different versions of this story. I just listened to one where Eugene loved Robert and was devastated his mom took him away. The second he could he got the doll back and then told his wife to deal with it.

I believe that I have been cursed by Robert the doll. I went to key west with my mother and father we took pictures of the doll and I called it stupid because your camera was supposed to break if u took it's picture well it didn't break but when we developed the pictures one had an old man's face next to the doll. It was so eerie and all my relationships have been filled with intense pain and vicious cycles. I've had a terrible life. And it continues to get worse each year I'm 36 now and I regret what I did to Robert every single day.

Went to see Robert a few years ago. Asked to take a couple of photos, one from straight on so I was facing him directly, and another from a corner so he was looking slightly away from my camera. When I got the pics done the one straight on was just as I took it, but on the other, his head was turned towards the camera.

@@MysteryArchives Well, it could be argued that spirits inhabiting an object might just move to another object i guess, but you summed it up with the word "fear" Kody. Negative entities gain power through fear; negative emotions. In other word, to respect it through fear is to submit to it, to allow it to rule you. I wonder if anyone has thought about an exorcism on the doll? Might make for an interesting public spectacle if the doll is forced to show its hidden spirit!
