I just purchased a 2021 model and there are differences. Multiple features no longer present on these bags for current models: 00:55 small zipper side bag does not exist. 03:02 buckles connecting frame to shoulder pad no longer exist. Loosening this site is no longer necessary with the new model it seems (bag detaches fine without this step.) 04:14 Second buckle to attach to posterior of bag (when overloading) is now just an adjustment strap instead. The buckle from inferior-position frame to inferior bag still in place.

Looks like a cool pack but why would you not make it a roll top closure instead of a draw cord? Roll top would give you far better protection from the elements than a draw cord.

Bought one of these Metcalfs in the green/gray mono-color & took it bow hunting for 10 straight days in the backcountry. My only recommendation would be to make the straps & buckles a different color from the bag material. Other than that, it seemed like a great pack. One question I did have is why the lid is split into two separate smaller compartments? I wasn't seeing the advantage to that feature, but maybe I'm missing something.

They do that because having one giant top lid it becomes hard to unzip when full so they seperate it into 2 for easier unzipping. That and it can double as a rifle rest if u have them full

Just wondering what the difference is between the normal metcalf and the women’s metcalf? I’m looking to get packs for my girlfriend and myself and everything’s sold out. Tempted on just getting two women’s metcalf’s and calling it good. I mean, if it’s the right size then🤷🏼‍♂️🤔 right?

Is it possible for a male to fit into a female pack? Asking because I saw that the male had been out of stock through guidefitter for some time so I’m wondering if I could fit into the female version but just choose the size that fits my torso. I’m 5’7” 190lbs so a little on the muscular husky side..

Ok nice bag but some Molly webbing would be huge and a price that is affordable. After you buy one you will be living in the outdoors permanent this beg will get its use haha but gonna have wet stuff. That said what is its waterproof capabilities? It is a canvas or nylon bag so not the best unless you want a soggy scope. If MEC puts Molly web and a couple extra straps they would be untouchable. Like a cell phone lots of cool features but lack with the basics. Price is one of the big misses

I found it worth the value. It's the last pack you would ever buy with it's lifetime warranty and generous company policies. Also..it is just built different. So very comfortable with an extremely heavy load. The comfort you have fully loaded is what makes the value exceed the price , for me. Also have the rain fly for it when it's really wet out
