A quick tip on the Mystery ranch packs, with larger elk quarters you can bypass the lower bar on the frame pack and go right to the buckles. This allows those of us with smaller frames to get the weight up high enough to not be riding on our butts. This also seems to keep the pack riding a bit better on the iliac crests.

great review! glad to see someone such as yourself that has a complete understanding of the ergonomic structure of what makes or breaks buying a pack...god knows in my 30 years of back country hiking and hunting here in Montana I've been through about every pack available for our diverse country landscape from extreme mountain to flat desert like conditions for antelope hunting...I really like how you can dial the pack into my body structure! I'm excited to budget for this pack! thanks a million for such a great review! keep up the great work! Dan

EXCELLENT overview. Thanks for taking the time to share the specs in detail and your personal experiences with it. I've had a dozen packs over the past 2 years from ALICEs to ILBEs to ULAs to vintage surpluse and am settled on the USMC FILBE and my Frost River Isle Royale ruck. I've done the ultralight thing and the heavy overbuilt rigs and the FILBE is ideal for my loadouts and the Frost River for my Tramps. My hunting rig is my Bull-Pac with an FILBE ruck attached to it and a SealLine dry bag at the bottom of the shelf so I could pack game out and keep my gear separate from it. I have my eye on a Mystery Ranch or Kifaru mid-sized pack for long weekends.

It's crazy to see how far their hunting line came in 5 years

Great overview of the Metcalf. Looking forward to a look at the Marshall, can't find any good videos on it.

are you done making videos? :(

Since you seem to have the inside line with Mystery Ranch you should get a video of the SATL put together.

Would have been really nice if you showed yourself disassembling the pack (not in the interest of time) to show how to use the load shelf and then reassembling it.

Great review. Have you ever looked into the KUIU light weight packs. Trying to decide on mystery ranch or KUIU PACK.
@pvkjhilk83238 жыл бұрын
+Deer-the other red meat they are both great packs that ive looked into for a while now. id say easily the mystery ranch packs are more versatile and built stronger for heavier loads but that said the kuiu are more intended for lighter weight applications at a lower price point. so it really comes down to what you need vs which one is better

Good review, but since you are called ProLiteGear why would you look at a 7.5 lb. backpack, that is the weight of my pack, tent, sleeping bag and sleeping pad, and my Six Moons Fusion 65 will carry 55 lbs.
@robertjones46319 жыл бұрын
+805gregg Cool, I'm sure that pack works incredibly well with what it was designed to do. Now try strapping an elk quarter onto your fully loaded current pack and packing that out. It's important to compare apples to apples.

I always ask people would you rather haul 1500lbs in the trunk of a prius or in the bed of a 1 ton pick up.... When you have carried a cuben fiber pack and hauled over 110lbs on your back you will appreciate the nice frame.
