There was another film, but I can't remember its name. It was adapted from a book. People had to wear headsets which brought everyone's intelligence down to the same level. A teenage boy had exceptional intelligence, and he was noticed. They brought him in to become a member of a secret elite that administers society. He refuses, so they kill him. The news of his death is broadcast, but everyone's intelligence is temporarily turned down, and even his parents don't recognise their son or what just happened.
