We have been listening to your feedbacks about the intro, but the thing is.. the intros affected the videos’ performance in a negative way. Based on the data provided by KZbin, people are more likely to leave during the first 30 seconds of the video if we put intro. Hence, we have decided to bring back the intro for some videos, but not all. We hope you understand.

or you know, just a big door that won't open for 200 years could work too. I feel like a puzzle maker just wanted to have a final laugh as he died. and that hole at the end, did nobody notice random stuff or water falling from the sky when it rained?
@neuswabian9442
@neuswabian9442 Жыл бұрын
Lights were almost always on and thus the small opening was never visible. This random stuff of course would happen, yet extremely rarely and guys knew the outside world existed, but had literally no way out, given that is is hundreds or thousands of meters above them. It might seem like a plot hole (lol) but an explainable one and not taking away from the plot.
@flybeep1661
@flybeep1661 Жыл бұрын
Put in a door with every effort to keep people locked in then every single person will have the natural inclination and curiosity to open it and they will do so for 200 years. Tell people to not do something and they will do the total opposite. Random stuff doesn't explain anything....because it's random. Water from the ceiling (not sky it's a cave remember) is normal, have you ever even been in a large cave?? Moisture builds up, water falls, it's normal. Also from the surface it seems to have been a pretty dry place and a whole that small will never let enough rain in to make any noticeable difference.

In City Of Ember, there aren't two suns, book or movie, ever. The opening footage of the above video is a separate movie from City Of Ember. The "Disaster" is never fully explained, but all that is mentioned in any of the four books in the series is that some crazy "Disaster" created havoc on the entire world. But before that, a group of scientists and engineers sit down and come up with the plan for the creation of an underground city that contains everything the inhabitants need to live for about 200 years. These men and women, known as the Builders, build the city and create a special box that contains a timer which will open the box in 200 years. They don't know what the future will hold of course, they don't know whether or not 200 years will be enough time for the predicted Disaster to be finished. But they want to find a way to save at least a part of humanity in case the rest of the world is wiped out. A bunch of volunteers, all old men and woman-none of which knows any of the others-are given a little training, and then taken by bus to the wilderness and into a cave where they enter to get to the city below. Nobody goes with friends in order so there is minimal memory of knowledge of the world between them. upon entering the cave, they are arranged as couples and given a baby or two per couple. They are not to speak of the outside world ever again so that their adoptive children "will escape sorrow for the world they've lost". The box is given to the first mayor who later passes it to her successor and so on, until the eighth mayor who becomes ill and thinks the box contains a cure. But he only succeeds in denting it before he dies, without passing it to the next mayor. So the box is shoved into a closet for many many years until it quietly clicks open. Thus the main story begins.

do you remember the name of the book?
@susantherestorer
@susantherestorer Жыл бұрын
@@delphini514 The books are a series of 4 books, starting with "The City Of Ember" (the movie is based on this one), followed by "The People Of Sparks", "The Prophet Of Yonwood" and the last one that concludes the series is "The Diamond Of Darkhold". All are great books, particularly the first, second and fourth ones. "The Prophet Of Yonwood" is the prequel. I think the movie is excellent, and cleans up some of the more complicated parts of the book (i.e., Ember's design woven into the eventual escape from the city, how Doon and Lina discover the Builders' plans of escape, the plans themselves, etc.). I wish the filmmakers could've kept going and at least done "The People Of Sparks" but the movie only lasted 2 weeks in the theaters, and wasn't very popular when it first came out (a sad fact, but what can we do). All the actors did their utmost in making the characters come to life. (Fun fact: the filmmakers actually built the City of Ember set in the very place the real Titanic was built originally.)

I've watched the movie a long time ago and while it's not fully explained what actually caused people to go underground, by the rumbles, explosions and earth shaking at the very start, it looked like it was another world war involving weapons of mass destruction as it's kinda implicit at some point by the kids that the world is not radioactive outside anymore. Also it's kinda implicit that the giant mole that appears in the movie got to that size due to radiation. I could be wrong since I didn't read the book, but that's what I noticed from watching the movie back then.

@@_Selah_ Nah, Mystery Recapped changed some details from both the movie and book versions. There is no second sun. The "Builders" who created Ember admit that they don't know what will happen in the future or if 200 years is enough time to save people or even if the City is needed. There is a prediction made about some "Disaster" in the future (from The Prophet Of Yonwood, Book 3), and certain scientists and technicians take it seriously. They build the city underground and take volunteers to their new home in the City along with orphan babies (at least, my assumption is the babies are orphaned) and the Disaster doesn't happen until 60 or more years later. By the time the Emberites emerge from the ground, everything is different and there are survivors living in remote areas on the earth's surface. The people of Ember don't know about animals (other than insects), or trees or rain or snow or even the sun. Certain survivors that have made a town called Sparks reluctantly take them in and help them learn about the outside world (The People Of Sparks, Book 2).

This is one of my favorite movies and I have watched it multiple times. There is no explanation ever of how the surface became inhospitable with the two suns and the people had to live inside the earth. Perhaps the explanation prelude was from the book and you took the liberty to add it in, but it was never in the movie itself.

The sun has a remaining lifespan of 5 billion years, with slated to start going red supergiant in 2 or 3. By that point, humanity will either have become spacefaring, or long extinct, so it's a moot point.

Best case scenario: We would atleast have the technology to move out the solar system and find another habitable planet similar to Earth. Worst case (probably even the most realistic) scenario: Our race would've likely died off before that even happens unfortunately.

the dead person caught everyone's attention, and in the mist of chaos, the rock was kicked to a random nowhere, lost, until the next protagonist to find it, or everyone died of food shortage and/or flood, while Doon and Lina had live at the above world, possibly make a home, and fight off huge mutated, or evolved, animal like the giant beetle and giant mole. With 2 people and a baggage, they will likely die. The end.

For those asking how the box was forgotten about it if was so important, I’m gonna explain based off the book. So basically the mayors were to keep the box a secret and when they retired they had to give it to the next mayor. Then Linas relative was sick and thought the box would have a cure so he took it home (it was meant to be hidden in the Gathering Hall) and tried to break it open. He then died before he could return the box to the Hall. And so the box was forgotten about since no one knew what it was and it wasn’t where it was meant to be.

Really? Because some idiot the other month was complaining this movie was “woke”. Because all of the white male adults except Tim robins were portrayed as selfish and evil (or overly incompetent) and the best character was a female and the male lead was her “simp”. Point is, if you want to complain about something you’ll find evidence to cherry pick about that complaint. But whatever. Keep listening to haters that want to manipulate you about freaking out about “wokeness”

@@ck5071 There were no forced black, gay, or feminist characters. Literally, the whole story is pretty well built. I wasn't educated, I was entertained. To me, that is a non-woke movie, Netflix is the example of woke BS if you want examples.

@@AITreeBranches If you don't want to watch a cartoon about a gay spy or lbgtq+ superheroes... then don't watch them. Plenty of other stuff in Netflix. But to some kids, they're finally seeing shows depicting how they feel or what they are as being not only OK but can be heroes. But if you're just salty because they added some PoC actors here-and-there or a gay character... then I don't know how to respond to that. I guess have fun "staying angry" . Sure, some shows may lean a bit into it too hard (like a couple of scenes in Disney+'s Falcon+WinterSoldier)... some people are just complaining about everything. Hence my posting of someone's complaint about this movie. Or hell... another complained about Farscape being "woke a f"
