Controversial opinion maybe, parents should start owning up for their change in lifestyle and not blaming it on the kids. After all, unless the pregnancy was a mistake/accident, it was their choice to have kids and they have to deal with the consequences/change in lifestyles that thatll come with. I don’t think this opinion is controversial at all. To be a parent means to be selfless, you are putting another life above your own because it is your responsibility. Even unplanned pregnancies don’t mean it wasn’t the parent’s choice to have kids, because when you engage in the act of consensual sex, you understand that pregnancy is always a risk you are taking on (even with use of contraceptives, pregnancy prevention is never 100%)

Some people just recognize for one reason or another they don't want to be parents and choose not to. Even with the risk of an unplanned pregnancy, there are (or in some cases was in light of recent events) ways for people to prevent themselves from having a child. People make mistakes, and urges comes and go. There can also be parents out there who act selfishly as well, and albeit it's not the majority, having children is not an automatic notion of being selfless.

Muslims and people in the middle east in general do honor killings and still love their kids the same as any ordinary parent does. No two emotions or action and emotion are incapable of coexisting. Wait I would love a different pov version of this where the kid is adopted and the parents’ job is to protect them from their biological parents. That is, if the virus is triggered through biology. If it’s trigger through who raised you then it could be vice versa. The kid could have never met their bio parent/s but they find the contact information and hunt them down for protection.
