In addition to those changes you have mentioned, many of those local buses would connect you to other lines if anyone needs them. The Q52 and Q53 buses connect with: The A train at Rockaway Blvd The J and Z trains at Woodhaven Blvd on Jamaica Av And the M and R trains at Woodhaven Blvd in Elmhurst, next to the Queens Center Mall. The Q35 bus next to Rockaway Park station will connect you with the 2 and 5 trains at Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College The NYC Ferry is also available at Beach 108th St and Beach Channel Drive that will run to Wall Street’s Pier 11 in Manhattan.

In past experience, if you live on the S line (NOT the A line), taking the altered S train to Far Rockaway and using the LIRR is a FASTER trip to mid-town Manhattan (especially Grand Central area), downtown Brooklyn, or Long Island City. If you happen to work in Mid-town, the express bus is genuinely nicer than the A train too

I mean, it's kid of good that they are doing this so that they're ready for the tourists in the summer, and honestly, The Rockaways don't really have much significance in the MTA. And there are also other things like the ferry or Q52 and Q53 Select Buses that run to The Rockaways

The MTA don't even care about the Rockaways tbh. It's not as terrible as they make it because the S will run between B 116 and Far Rock, and people will be very happy to take the LIRR for only $2.75. Plus, the Q52/53 SBS's connect with the A at Rockaway Blvd and the M/R at Woodhaven. Plus, AM Rush you got the QM15. The ridership here is very low in the winter months anyways so the executives couldn't care shit about the A shutting down lmao

Thankfully not many are going to the Rockaways at this time, so late winter-early spring is the best time to get these repairs done before summer swings around.

YOU ARE TOTALLY WRONG. Thers are MANY daily commuters that use the Rockaway Line to travel to and from their homes.
@noahnorman687716 күн бұрын
@ What I meant to say is people from outside the Rockaways who travel there for the beach, since not many of those people are traveling there around these months, it would be the best time for this project to commence.
@TheRailLeaguer16 күн бұрын
@@RonGersteinRidership in the Rockaways is lower compared to the summer months. Doesn’t help that half of the route goes through the middle of nowhere. In comparison, the Woodhaven Blvd SBS routes see consistent packed loads, same with the Q22 bus. Hell, even the Q35 bus, which travels between Brooklyn and Queens via the Marine Pkwy bridge, sees more ridership than the subway, despite serving only a small portion of the peninsula. In fact, shutting the line down for repair work during the winter is the right move.
@gavinsimmonsmccullum421915 күн бұрын
I used the A/S every day. The area in general has a much lower density, however. There are lots of duplex and single-family houses on generous plots (for NYC). Parking is really easy too -some of us have driveways. We only have alternate side parking on Thursday and Friday. In Brooklyn it's every day but Wednesday. It was easy for the MTA to abandon us. I guess I'll be paying that $6 toll every day.
