Only was able to play about an hour each day, but managed 19 shinies, including 4 Deino today which was huge because I missed that Comm day! Ended up with at least one of every pokemon that spawned (except Mudkip) and finished my Deino, Starly and Hoppip families. Great last Comm day of the year, can't wait to see what we get in January!

Considering you catch 500 wild Pokemon a day with all having a shiny rate of 1/500, and doing that for 65,000 years. You will get ±2 days to encounter 10 shinies a day, and ±20 days to encounter 9 shinies a day. So, if we gather 23.7M players today, and let them all catch 500 Pokemon in the wild with a 1/500 shiny rate, there will be 1 or 2 extremely lucky players that will encounter 10 shinies. But if this feels disappointing, there is a big chance that you will face 5 shinies in one day if you do this for a year. I don't know if that makes you feel better, but at least I tried.

Dang. Seeing the numbers here in the comments is rad. Congrats! Pretty much played the whole 2 days probably over 24 hrs at least. Had to go plus most the time. And was location locked helping my spouse run a holiday market cuz they were home sick. Playing their phone too from time to time, with mine and a little account. Got 20 total shinies between the three. Non on the spouses. Mine I got 12 small got 8. Small got one hundo Duskull. I came up with a fat goose egg on hundos. But managed to go plus a 98 shiny Zigzagoon…. with 10 cp… all in all the event for me and mine felt like a big L. All the shinies were ones we all had lots of and were pretty much useless mons. Nothing to write home about. Think we evolved 2 of them just to do it. The evolving hundos we got over the year and sat on unevolved for months was nice though. Seriously congrats to those who got 20+ or even a few who got 100+ shinies and the few shundo out there. Well done.

Saturday I had a really good time, 18 shinies, which included gible, machop and tepig from eggs. Got all 6 boosted shinies at least once. Better mega evolve would have been houndoom. Woulda got extra xl for both deino and zig. Only helpful if u like pvp really. But if u like pvp the houdoom was the play.
