@userdjee8344 жыл бұрын
Just the right comparison, thank you! I've now tried both and my conclusions are almost the same, but I would need the Speed Pro in 16x19. Head is insisting on 18x20 in most of their advanced racquets for decades now, only to see pro players use those same frames in 16x19 later. That strategy didn't age well at all. If you look at their wonderful and iconic racquets from the 90ties on, few would play them today in 18x20. Just recently they re-issued a famous Pro Tour from 1994 and most people concluded - "Yeah, nice, but it should be 16x19 instead of 18x20". I tried so many in the last 20ish years only to conclude that 18x20 doesn't really work as well. We need the Speed Pro 16x19 now. This Speed Pro is laser-like, but it lacks some loop and bend, flat balls are easy to counterattack and defend in today's tennis, opponents just reuse my power. I need that the ball bends down just before the baseline, and I need it to jump up "into the nose". Plus it forces me to slug all the time, and while that is great during a hitting practice, pure fun, it makes me lose 4-6 where I would normally win an easy set. So for now I will stick with Speed MP, great frame, although it is not as stable as the Pro. And yes, the base grip definitely lacks definition 👀
@2n1ce3 жыл бұрын

@@2n1ce Current MP is difficult to control for my level, balls are flying even with fresh strings at 28kg. Pro is OK as 18x20 but is not stable enough for harder hitting, hoop starts vibrating and shaking with faster swings. It was noted in TW review and another french review as well. Lead doesn't help. So basically both are more for recreational level than advanced and I sold them rather quickly.

I’ve been playing for 4-5 years now. Took lessons about 2-3 years, but I can’t figure something out. What do you mean when you say “more suitable for topspin players”. I can’t figure this out because I play with a lot of top spin myself so since I can generate spin I gravitate toward control racquets that help me flatten out the ball. I have big difficulty flatting out balls with spin racquets. A control racquet allows me to add spin when I want to, this being my main shot but I can also hit flat because the ball doesn’t jump on me when I try to hit flat. So, why do people in general recommend spin friendly racquets for people who like to play with spin and control or low launch angle for people who like to hit flat. Shouldn’t it be exactly opposed?

I currently hit with the Pure Drive Tour. I'm pretty happy with it, BUT... it has NO FEEL. I tried the Speed Pro and was blown away by the feel. Almost every shot was on fire: backhand, slice, drop, serve. Notice what's missing? Forehand! My forehand was significantly weaker and I missed A LOT more into the net. I think it's the launch angle that you mention in your videos. Low shots that I could take a scooping forehand swing at doesn't seem to grab and throw the ball over the net like my Pure Drive Tour. Is there anything you'd recommend I try? I was thinking of dropping a few pounds in string tension to see if I can compensate there. That might add back the power, but will it also allow me to pocket the ball more? It works amazingly for all other shots, except my forehand, and it feels soooo good. I really want to make it work, but I don't want to invest in the racket and/or screw up my game if I can't figure out what to do about the forehand. I'm going to demo the MP next, but given your review and knowing my play style and preference for heavier rackets, I'm guessing the Pro is the way to go for me.

The speed got more sluggish after the graphene touch version due to a thicker beam. Also sauce the touch version they are increasing the swing weight with each version which is too high now and also makes it more sluggish. I played with all versions since the first graphene version. Mp and pro and after the fact i enjoyed the graphene xt version the most. The later versions are a little bit more stable and feel a bit more solid, but more muted, sluggish and a too high swing weight. Although i agree that the xt was a little bit more brassy, but the speed of the racket and the response was just much better. The 360 version mp and pro was my last version as the 360+ the swing weight is over my max. Since then I'm playing with several rackets in my bag: Yonex ezone 98 2020 Wilson clash 98 Head extreme tour 98 I feel like the extreme tour 98 is kinda the follow up of the speed how i liked it. And the ezone is one of my favorites as well as the clash 98. On days that i need that extra help and margin for error i use the clash 98. When I'm fit and tuned in, the ezone 98 and when the balls are too jumpy on me and i want less power the extreme tour.

Can you compare the speed pro vs ezone 98?
@LarzB2 жыл бұрын
@@patricioab the ezone 98 (recently i have had the latest version) compared to the speed pro 360+ (haven't tried the auxetic yet): - more muted - more power (too much for me) - similar sluggishness - similar access to spin - similar control as the ezone has a fairly dense 16x19 in the middle and the speed pro has an open 18x20 (more open than in the past) - less touch as the racket feels stiffer and it's more muted. - bigger serve - similar in volleys although i would give the speed the edge because of the touch What you should watch out for is the grip handle sizing of Yonex is different to head. An L2 of Yonex is in size similar to an L3 of head. I measured it without grips.

I have also owned and tried the original 85 as well as a 90 inch pro staff. Generally i don't gell so well with pro staff nor a head prestige 98 18x20. The head shape of those rackets are very oval and thin and i think the sweet spot of those rackets is just too small due to the head shape and the width of the head at the point of the sweet spot. If you really like the pro staff but want a little bit easier racket without loss of control and touch the following rackets come to mind (which i had and or still have): Yonex vcore pro 97 16x19 Dunlop cx200 16x19 Head speed pro also yes but now the ezone 98 Head extreme tour Wilson blade 98 16x19

Hi Karue. Thank you for this comparative analysis. Can you please assist me - I can't decide if I should get MP or PRO. I am quite intermediate player, oriented mostly on flat points. I know that MP is maybe more for spins, but in the same time it is more for power - but if I put on PRO Strings 18x20 tension 21-22kg will it produce the same power like MP strings 16x19 at 24-25kg? I am more flat oriented and I depend lot on my power, that is the most critical segment of my game. I produce very very little spins.... Can you please assist me on this dilemma? THANK YOU
@KaruesellHQ4 жыл бұрын
If you like to generate power, go for the pro. Because it's a bit less powerful you'll be able to swing more confidently. You can play around with the tension so you find your optimal set up. The Pro will probably be the better option

@@KaruesellHQ Thank you very much for this very prompt response. I do try to produce more power so that is why I thought maybe I should stick to MP which is more powerful and also like you said PRO is maybe for more professional players, while I am still at intermediate level - not so close to PRO to be honest. But in the same time MP is if I want more top spin which I do not produce. It was really complete mess in my head :-) I will then try to go with the PRO because it suits better for my flat game and I hope with less tension I will be able to add some power as well. I think someone else asked this question, but I’ll ask again..., what’s go you find the difference is between the last generation of Speed Pro and this one? I demoed the new one, because of the higher swing weight, and didn’t love it. Could have been the strings though 🤷♂️. Weighted up my racket and that seemed to help the stability issues I was having. Liking it much more now. Having seen the positive reviews, combined with it being a Tennis Warehouse, “best seller,” makes me think I’m missing something. Guess I could give it a second chance.

I bought the PRO and everything you said was true. Swingweight is 329 but due to it being easy to swing it doesn’t feel so. Baseline: everything’s there. Spin on backhand. No problem. It feels like a modern prestige youtek 16/19 98”. Feel is awesome. I grow into the racquet and learning to trust it more and more. I was looking for a 300 gram 320 SW racquet. But this won my heart 6-0 big time. Awesome raquet. Most versatile ive ever tried! I have the Volkl Organix Super G 10-295. That’s a good racquet but this is better imo.
