Haha! Google thinks it is a couple decades away from figuring out immortality and overcoming the aging process and death? Sounds exactly what you'd expect from a delusional teenager. And would you look at that! Google turns 17 in September.

I don't think the old Gods are really "dead", just taken other forms today.

The old gods and us are nothing compared to God and I'm sure CS Lewis knew that

Regarding the ethical dimension of the question: "With great power comes great responsibility." Once man came to his senses, stepped out of nature and had communion with God, he became a moral being with the law written on his heart. No room for eugenics there ...

I’m with you on the overall thrust of your talk. I enjoyed your juxtaposition of HG Wells worldview to that of Lewis. However, you imply that Lewis is anti-evolution as a phenomena. I think that is an erroneous view of his stand. “We must sharply distinguish between Evolution as a biological theorem and popular Evolutionism or Developmentalism which is certainly a Myth. […] To the biologist Evolution […] covers more of the facts than any other hypothesis at present on the market and is therefore to be accepted unless, or until, some new supposal can be shown to cover still more facts with even fewer assumptions. […] It makes no cosmic statements, no metaphysical statements, no eschatological statements.” To Lewis the real danger is not evolutionary theory, then, but Evolutionism-the all-encompassing worldview. Lewis was right to want to put Evolutionism to rest once and for all....but it does not mean he was a young earth creationist by any means.

Man evolved under the guiding of God for "God from all eternity, did, by the most wise and holy counsel of His own will, freely, and unchangeably ordain whatsoever comes to pass; yet so, as thereby neither is God the author of sin, nor is violence offered to the will of the creatures; nor is the liberty or contingency of second causes taken away, but rather established." Chance and random mutation from our point of view, a divine plan from His.
