Webster what a brilliant idea with the bamboo stick. Can’t wait to see your garden in bloom.

Thanks Laz. The bamboo sticks allow me to make sure that all the roses are the same size when pruned.

Yes!! This is how I discovered his channel over a year ago or so. I was looking for information about pruning roses. He makes it so easy to understand and of course I immediately appreciated his humor and the story of his journey to creating beautiful gardens!!

I like to keep things simple. We don’t need to be afraid to prune our roses. They are actually very forgiving, if we don’t get it right the first time.

Hi Webster. You may have made this point before, but I missed it. Why do you trim in the spring? I trim mine in late fall. I live in 7b, Maryland so I get blooms early summer and late summer into autumn. I bought 4 David Austin roses, Harlow Car, Young Lycidas, Bathsheba, and Strawberry Hill. I planted them in large pots Easter weekend. I’m extremely excited about them blooming this year. Good luck and keep us up to date on the rose’s progress👍🏾

Thanks for asking Lisa. I trim in Spring after the last frost to prevent the new tender shoots from succumbing to freeze. A older stronger shoots are less likely to die from “frostbite”
