Pleasanton, California (9b) here. Dry 100+ days w/cool nights in summer. No rain at all April thru October. Winter is wet with lows usually down to no worse than 28F. My 2nd try at hydrangeas. This time it’s in a large rolling container on the patio. Sun to 10 AM then shade in the summer and moving to full sun in winter. It’s Endless Summer type.

Thank you. I'm in Chicago and have leaves growing out the bottom but the branches are bare. I don't know what kind it is because I rescued it from the trash. Last April, I hacked all the branches off. This year, after watching your videos, I'm leaving it alone for another month or more to see if it grows from old wood. I appreciate you doing these videos. I watch them all the time.

Hi Tami, your comment made my day . Thank you . Sounds like you have new growth coming from the bottom which is a good sign . If your branches are still leafless in another two weeks , you can trim them and off. . Happy hydrangea -ing 🌸🌸

I’m in Bergen County. I was wondering about my endless summers, so thanks for the timely video. Last year I didn’t have as many blooms because I over-pruned. This past season, I didn’t prune them at all, then in Mid-March I deadheaded them and lightly pruned as per another of your videos suggested. They look the same as yours (with green leaves) so I’m hopeful that they will return to their full, bloomy selves this summer! Fingers crossed!

I'm in central Iowa & two summers ago i planted my 1st hydrangea, an Endless Summer. Your tips on pruning are very timely for me. Thanks!

Watching from Austin TX, 8b. I have 2 endless summer in pots on the patio. We had a late cold snap also and lost some new growth. It's fairly late in our spring season, so they are starting to bloom. Last year I had a handful fairly large globe shaped blooms. This year it looks like I am getting more, but smaller flowers, no nice big globes so far. I saw the tip about putting a bucket over the plant to protect buds from cold snap and I will do that next year. I moved to TX from NY 30 years ago, and I just love having hydrangeas around despite not having the best growing conditions. Your limelights are so gorgeous that I couldn't resist and planted some along my back fence. They didn't bloom the first year, and so far there is no sign of any buds, fingers crossed they bloom this summer. I just had to try.

Hi Susan, I’ll bet your Limelights just need another year or two to get blooms . I also planted a few new ones two years ago and they are like yours with no blooms yet. This is normal so no worries . So fun hearing about your hydrangeas . Thank you for your comment 👍🌸

I have an Endless Summer Hydrangea which was also affected by a "winter zap." The little growth it had died because of a snowstorm. My plant looks just like the ones in the front of her home.

love your channel, pretty informative. however I also love v your coat, may I ask where you bought it?
@KellyLehman2 жыл бұрын
Hi Virginia , thank you so much appreciated your kind comment . The coat is from a tiny store in Berlin Germany . It was actually a small gift shop with only a handful of coats in it and Sheldon picked it out . 🌸❤️

My hydrangea looks a bit misshapen with a some stalks coming out in different spots and at different heights… looks a little unruly(?) . Don’t know how else to describe it. Should I leave it alone or try to shape?

God bless Vern Black from Bailey's Nursery, for being a good boss when I was young and for Endless Summers. However, the girls in Minnesota call them Endless Bummers.

Can you cover your hydrangeas all winter?

Mine are pink and they seem to be fading into a white color and spot light brown spots on them. Is this normal?
