really sorry that the LTR content is not catching, I've been really enjoying the games (when I watch) but it's summer, so I would expect this to be a slower time. Of course, if you're still getting the views with the test decks, I understand. I wouldn't hate to see some Alchemy content now that the A22 crazy cards will rotate out.

I enjoyed your Lord of the Lord of the Rings series because it was maximum CGB. Your recent collab was also fun. Its nice watching you interact with other people. If you made a video where you just had casual games or weird deck switch ups with other people. That'd be fun to watch but I guess most people just want to watch things they may adopt and then watch how you'd drive it so they themselves can get better.

Love the long outros. I think people want to learn how to play certain decks, and that's why people are interested. That said, I also think it's interesting to see you do slight iterations on your favourite decks, see how small changes matter and create deeper stats.

I still have watched them all and enjoy them a lot, but I think they would be better content if he didn’t treat the bad ones as a chore to get them played and over with so the win counts. Even if it’s gonna be less optimal and take more games to win, it’d be more fun to see him try to get the most out of each commander’s value, even the weird ones (ok except a couple of the completely useless ones I don’t blame him there). Also he stopped doing deck intros for some of them and I think those were important. It’s hard to get invested in a jank deck working if you don’t even know what the jank deck is supposed to do.

Two years ago I started to play Standard. Very soon I found CGBs videos and I got hooked. I love his ideas, his comments and of course his "after-play" thoughts. Sometimes I grab a glass of wine and enjoy just seeing him playing - always great shows! I know, skiping the usual "autumn-change" sucks and I also fear, that meta doesn't change so much. I’m sorry the LTR content hasn’t been doing well. I love watching the streams! One thing I think could have helped is if instead of pure randomness deciding the commander you could have incorporated more engagement through community polls or equivalent - maybe like randomly generating 3 commanders and putting those choices up as a poll on KZbin/wherever. At least for me, voting in a poll makes me more invested in the result

The last two seasons have been an absolute nightmare for me. Last season I finally made it to mythic, but I don't think I'm making it there this season. Seeing someone as good as you having the same struggle says a lot about this game lol.

Tell me about it. I'd been stuck in Diamond 3 for a week. Then yesterday out of sheer frustration I threw together a GR ramp deck with 4 Etalis just so I could have some Timmy fun, and then without even trying I made Diamond 1 today with the deck giving me a 9-4 record. Magic be that way sometimes... Can't relax until I actually make Mythic though, I was up to Diamond 1 once before being knocked down to Diamond 3.

i miss the LOTLOTR challenge content so much. i feel like i’ve seen almost every single “standard” standard deck from your opponents. it’s exciting when content is new and unique. i know it’s difficult and not always possible to make content in that way, but i think you really found your niche both in playstyle and viewers who do want to see that.

Hey CGB, I can't speak for everyone but the main reason why I tend to only watch standard videos is very simple. Cost. With Alchemy and Historic Brawl, you simple need a larger pool of owned cards to pull from to make a viable deck, much less several so as not to get into that stale play-pattern. I know you understand this. At the end of the day, I can have the most decks and competitive chance in the format that requires the fewest owned cards, the fewest of my precious wild cards. Bc I'm a 40y/o single father of 2 that works 6 12hr shifts a week just to break even every month and I will likely never had any free funds to spend on Arena. The result is that when I do watch historic or Alchemy videos, (I feel like I watch more than play lately), I find myself having to really focus on the video, and pause every few seconds to read what a card is and does, and I have no idea what the meta is like in those formats so I can't see the leylines that weave the cards together. That sounded weird, what I mean is I see a card like Thrumming Bird or Bloated Contaminater, and my mind goes to cards like Involuntary Cooldown and Impede Momentum and get my kick from taking that core interaction and finding more cards to turn that idea into a build. In this case, Simic Stunlock and I love it lol. The other formats lack that vital piece of the puzzle for me, it's almost like watching someone play Yu-Gi-Oh. There's some familiar-ish things but mostly I'm lost and utterly dependent on you to walk me through whats happening, and could happen. Worse yet, my collection started right at last rotation and i know I'll never have the time nor money to be anything more than someone's easy win on those ladders. I still watch sometimes, out of boredom with a stale standard and support for the content creators that make my days suck that much less, and I really do appreciate the time and willpower it takes to grind at this day after day. Especially when your followers and your heart want different things. I get that, I respect that, and hearing your words in the closing of this video I felt compelled to reach out. I doubt it will matter much or if you'll even read this long ass rant, but you may, you could. Ultimately most of understand what you feel, we still aren't going to view the other formats like we do standard content, but don't let that stop you from doing what makes you happy. Your dedicated followers will not abandon you no matter what direction you move in. The views may drop, but they certainly won't stop lol. How I keep standard fresh...PLAY FUN CARDS. You say you don't care about mythic but only play mythic level decks. Be the elite deck builder you can be and win with decks with 4 copies of cards like: 1. Arcane bombardment (I love a green splash) 2. Mind Splice 3. Brilliant Restoration 4. One with the multiverse 5. Portal to Phyrexia 6. All will be one 7. 5 mana black enchantment, pay 5 life or discard 8. Wiretapping 9. Urbrask 10. Urbrasks Forge

These series were the best. But I reckon, as I did stay till the end, the reason these not do as well is similar of a reason why Legenvd does not do as much Draft videos. Most people just want to see standard meta decks played over and over again. I myself am a control enjoyer so I try to reach mythic same way as you but I am not the same level of a player so the best I've done was Diamond 2 😅 btw, the most fun I've had playing MTGA was before Throne of Eldraine came out, simic control bo3 with all the wolves, krakens to draw cards and interrupts AND dimir mill bo3 with the gargoyles who couldn't attack until you milled a bunch.

Tbh, since you released Clock Ring in alchemy, i made my own rendition with Shelly and alchemists retrieval and have been having an absolute blast. So much so that i started exclusively playing alchemy instead of HB. So I'd love to see more in that realm. But i do love HB. Was honestly excited for Bill the Pony, but I love meme decks and cheesing out wins with them. 😂

I switched to Historic 2 years ago and once every 6 months I get curious to see if anything new and exciting is happening in Standard and I go watch a CGB video and each time my response is "oh, never mind". I guess mono red got a battle to add to their deck?

It is really sad about standard, honestly. Like, that's the content I really like to tune in for, because I don't play standard but I like watching someone work the meta... but standard really has gotten stale. I haven't cared much for the LOTR or alchemy content, but for the different reason that I just get sad when I think about Universes Beyond and how gross alchemy is. Now, I still like watching the CGB content regardless of what it is, just because it's some of the best MTG content out there and it's super regular, but if there was one thing that caught my attention recently, it's the collab stuff, like the videos with Rarran. PLEASE, PLEASE DO MORE OF THAT. And I'd pay good money to see CGB play live with another content creator in a similar kind of setup.
