I've seen some real bullshit come out of this deck. throw a few spellbooks and a royal magical library in here, and you consistently draw a third of your deck in one turn and also have a master cerebus with at least 8 counters on it by the time you reach the battle phase. And let me tell you, if you don't have an answer to Master Cerebus by the time your turn comes, "you a ded ni**a"

It's not my deck, it's a friend's. We play in YGOPro, so I wouldn't exactly call it "link-ready", but the main goal of the deck is basically to make the most oppressive Master Cerebus possible, so the extra deck is usually less of a goal than it is a toolbox for when you lose advantage. I was barely able to get consistent wins against it with Pendulum Magicians (mind you there's no link format in YGOPro, so they're basically as full-power as they can get), so I think that's a testament to how powerful they can be. The big weakness is that if you can out the Master Cerebus, you basically won already. I'll try and get his decklist, but he's not available right now so it might be a few hours.

Ties of the brethren is great in the deck. Summon either, medusa, garuda, or basilisk, play ties, activate ALL of the spells in your hand, and now you have so many counters to use.

First thought with Medusa: Royal Magical Library. [IKnowIAintTheOnlyOne.mp4] That being said, one favorite old deck that I think these will be a solid add to is Tempest Magician FTK. For those not familiar with the deck, it basically utilizes the RML draw engine to go through itself like crazy, load up on Spell Counters, then drop a Lv 2 Tuner (I usually opt for Plaguespreader) to Synchro Summon Tempest Magician, dump the hand for a final surge of Spell Counters, then remove all of your Spell Counters to deal 500 damage a piece...then use the one copy of Magical Explosion you run to finish the opponent off if you didn't generate enough Spell Counters for a win.

You could use medusa to special summon a frequency magician to make synchro plays, or use it to bring back a synchro like arcanite magician. No idea if either of those are good cards, though.

I like the archetype as a whole. Medusa has its uses thanks to magical boost and exemplar so as a one of its perfectly fine. King Jackal is a great archetype card thanks to master cerberus and jackal and basilisk recycles stuff you don't want to special summon like Garuda or just to get your jackal back. And it might be inconsistent to summon it but Tempest Magician is a blast once its on the field. 16k burndmg just feels great. But you have to run Night's end Sorcerer or Frequency Magician and both completely suck on their own :x

So the main concern, as with all other spell counter reliant decks in the past, is how quickly you can accumulate and repeatedly accumulate spell counter. I totally agree that Basilisk's monster effect's cost is too high, but it's a good effect to have for operating the deck's strategies. So in order to utilize the effect, in order to set up other effects for extensive plays...a player would need A Lot of spell counters on the field. Seems like a minimum of 12 spell counters to have the most options in a turn. This minimum means heavy reliance on Magical Citadel, Terraforming, Demise of the Land, spell power grasp, and spell recycling cards like Endymion and Spell Reclamation. *Damn* Sucks that Spell Reclamation sucks because it's a trap and requires a discard. SMH
