Exactly! Skinwalkers are very specific thing. It's NOT any cryptid that is morphic. It's a very real spiritual Navajo being.

whats interesting about them is they exist everywhere not just navajo, they aren’t exactly the same, the only real difference between them is the spirits of the land that they draw power from and their practice so fundamentally they are different and spiritually they are different but the end goal is the same
