Fanstoys Willis/Willy Transformers 3rd Party Hound

Man, it's nice to find someone who absolutely nails the right sentiment about collecting these. It's great to see updated versions of the old G1 toys. I love my CHUG Hound. BUT. When you see something like this, that completely captures everything cool about the old version but makes it solid and well-articulated and fun...yeah that's my preference, too.

MakeToys Gundog, to me, is a masterpiece version of the G1 Hound toy. FansToys Willis, to me, is a masterpiece version of the animated G1 Hound. I prefer Willis because, to me, it screams cartoon Hound, and that's what I want in my masterpiece collection. Great review as always, Bobby. Thanks.

Bobby, I cannot remember the last time you were this excited for a figure. (Maybe FT Swoop?) Anyways, I'm super glad that you love this figure and cannot wait to get my hands on it myself. Thank you for your thoughts and always able to point out the various pros and cons and criticisms, despite completely being in love with the figure, it never seems to sway your opinion to be biased. By that I mean, nothing ever gets a free pass with you, just because you personally love the character/figure and that's a rare quality with reviewers. Thank you for all you do!

You know a figure is epic when you see Skullface gushing over it! Damn, I was on the fence due to his rather cumbersome transformation but your enthusiasm is making it rather difficult to pass this guy. Awesome review! Don't worry about Paik, he's just an apologist, who doesn't tell it as he sees it but someone who tries his best not to offend even if it means 'compromising' the truth. I will say, though, one thing I like about his rather long and tedious reviews is that he always transforms from robot to alt and vice-versa, something most reviewers don't do.

My piece where the pivot plate for the head does not go down as like your review. I had to have the bonnet flush with the head lights part down and just squeeze the hands into the tight space. My plate eventually gave way and split but easily glued. I found the gas tank can be squeezed into the body when you lift your windscreen and is a slot where you can squeeze in nicely. This is a fantastic piece, it blows almost every mp I have owned. This is what a transformers masterpiece should be like. And as for transforming, I found it way easier than tracks mp.

Great to see TFC's Defective didn't traumatize you too much for this review (I'd have believed it could have) and this one does feel more G1-y than Gundog, although Gundog's silhouette appeals to me more personally. Then again I'm also not the biggest Hound fan so take that for what it's worth.

Finally got mine and he is everything you say he is. A couple times before his release I had some money and thought about Gundog but ultimately I knew this was more of what I wanted. Very glad I held out for him. One of the best ever.

I did some breakin' over the weekend. Prowl was my first transformer so a few years back I bought one of those statue busts. Why moving things around I lifted the box and noticed something inside it was rattling. Both launchers are busted beyond repair. I got Mpp10 and m01 commander over the weekend I am real uneasy about transforming them.

I think it's okay to have multiple makes/version of a character, if said character is one of your favourites. Thats why I'll keep Gundog, and buy Willis. Great review and my wallet hates you.

Yes there are some green plastic pieces and green plastic pieces that are painted green. But it's done in a smart way and the finished bot doesn't display itself in a way where the greens contrast each other or distract from the finished piece

Love this figure and a fan of Fans Toys in general, but things are just off in terms of vehicle mode scale. He's just a tad too big in alt mode to scale properly with my other MPs. Put him next to MP Ironhide or MP Bumblebee or even Prime and you can see what I'm talking about. Perfect scaling in robot mode, though, so it might have been unavoidable. If I had to pick one, I'd rather robot scale be correct.

Do you have MT Gundog? I thought you were going to compare the 2 side by side. Also I would recommend showing MP10 Spike in the drivers seat. As much as I like G1 accuracy, i still am not a fan of those feet in FT Willy. That was the main reason I went with Gundog. I will admit Gundog isn't the easiest figure to transform. I think the most complex third party figure to date is BadCube's Wardog. Good review always enjoy your honest reviews.

I don't like this one and when I saw it the Takara wasn't released yet. I never had either of them in hand but I believe the FT is a better quality figure then the Takara. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface.
