I loved seeing a time-lapse of set up, great to know ahead of time
@crushingit512811 ай бұрын
Not having something as simple and rewarding as let's say having the farmer growing crops to have the merchant sell or boost a adventurer in their quest seems like a given. Those classes really should have been playing off each other.
@ThomasTomiczek7 ай бұрын
The problem with that is that it requires the classes to be present - which is contrary to the goal of playing with 1-5 classes and changing them. This limits dependencies. it IS a problem.

This is one of those games where you know if it's for you or not at a glance and that opinion likely won't change. I knew from the get go this isn't a game for me, if you can't lose there's no tension and then it's not interesting for me. I do really like how much this company experiments, I'm looking forward to their next game.

I feel like this verges on a toy for adults really. No tension, no competition, just knitting for the joy of knitting, but you'll never make a scarf. But... Its something cute you can dip into every now and then to calm down after a bad day, and you dont want to look at a screen.

I am enjoying the game - I rated it a 7. I agree that I would've liked a bit more interaction between characters. I really enjoy the sit down, play, put away, get out, play, "coziness" of the game. Not a game for everyone, but definitely something I enjoy and will play over the long term.
@tehpickle125011 ай бұрын
What a shame that such a genuinely cool premise goes nowhere. I’m particularly disappointed that the “classes” have so little interaction with eachother, as Zee noted. Massive props to the designers though, regardless. I think they have a template that’s got a ton of promise, it just needs a bit more *oomph* to keep it compelling in the longer term. I hope that a sequel or a well executed expansion can come along and address some of those shortfalls.
@nozhki-busha11 ай бұрын
Its very much the kind of game you either really love or you don't, there isnt much in between. As a player of many cozy games on the PC/Switch I thought it was great, but it will for sure not suit everyone.
@prototypep411 ай бұрын
I liken it to tabletop Banished. If you can sit there and pour hours into Banished knowing the only goal is increasing population and don't let everyone starve then this might suit you. If that sounds boring avoid this at all costs.

Had a similar view, 5/10 - this game didn't feed me enough bed crumbs to keep me wanting to rinse repeat the same Euro mini-game over and over again. Never apologise for a 5 either! ;-) Galzyr did it better because the stuff you do in the game is more interesting or narrative driven than Mythwind was.

If you have less than 4 players do you need to have someone(s) play multiple characters and if not can you switch in and out which characters are in and not in the game from season to season?
@laniston11 ай бұрын
Each player only plays one character. I guess you could play multiples of you wanted to but it isn't required. And yes, between seasons you can switch characters

@nezukoshop11 ай бұрын
the game feels very much like Lands of Galzyr, but with more complexity since each char plays differently. Galzyr also has no true ending. You can play on and on and on and it gets bopring after around 5 or 6 plays. The story is not compelling enouh for me to keep exploring. That's why I did not continue my pledge with Mythwind since it is the more complex version of Galzyr, and even I think the story in this game is not as great as Galzyr does.
@TheGlassesPush11 ай бұрын
I’d say the minimal narrative will work to its advantage. If you encounter the same narrative in Galzyr, that’s a lot of reading. In Mythwind, it’s all about the activity instead. Most cards are single-use, and the text is minimal. I’m only one year into Mythwind, so my opinion could change, but I’m liking the fact that it is more about the tasks than the story.

Looks interesting, but I'm still unsure what the goal or point of the game is, having watched the video.
@prototypep411 ай бұрын
There's not really one. Have you ever played Banished? Or Stardew Valley? You set a personal goal if you want. Like my goal in banished was always getting above 2k population. There's nothing really in game that happens if you do that but it's just relaxing planning out and building a town.

I came here wondering why all my friends liked this game. I came away from a game night of Mythwind SO, so bored. I had absolutely no idea what my friends had been doing for the last two hours, as there’s no interaction whatsoever. Would it be so hard for the trader to have to supply the beer for my inn? The innkeeper to keep the townspeople happy and working well? The farmer to grow our bread? No, much like one friend now refuses to play Dune with us, I think I’ll ask them to play Mythwind when I’m not around. Shame as it looked interesting.

Played through two seasons of this game and had similar thoughts - I thought progression was too slow. I felt like it was a board game that would be better applied as an app for my phone.

@arcubal11 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'm both sad and relieved in your assessment. Relieved cuz I feel vindicated in my original impression when the crowdfunding campaign ran and I found exactly what you said to be true. The design is not strong enough with incentives to fulfill it's premise. But I'm also sad because it deserves so much more in every way, more conceptualisation to realize its admittedly lofty and fun potential, more development to insert a better cost-reward system and tap into what both farming app lovers and Legacy game afficianados know to be true. Alas, this needs a strong 2e to overcome its faults, which is also sadly a lesson I learned from Stars of Akarios and why I'm much more careful to jump onto an OOP game in the future.

I suppose it's no different to playing candy crush or Sims on an iPad. You're passing the tine doing an activity, but at least there's no screen.
@prototypep411 ай бұрын
That's exactly what it is. It's just a chill out switch off activity but more tactile. And really there's not much like that in the tabletop world.
@MrNood1e11 ай бұрын
I just don't think board games can achieve the cozy genre/vibe (or whatever you want to call it) because, by their nature, they are missing what makes cozy video games so good. Video games can offer things that board games could never offer - such as dynamic goals, dynamic experiences, NPCs to interact with, and probably the biggest thing is sound design. Yes, you can play music while you play a board game, but it doesn't come even remotely close to the sound design that video games can offer. Playing a cozy game that has a soundtrack that perfectly reflects what you're doing, and sound effects that play to give you feedback while you play and interact with things in the world, it just takes the experience to the next level. Unfortunately board games can't do that, so they'll always fall short in the cozy game category.
@Rik7711 ай бұрын
Yeah they could have gone the whole way and made this an electronic toy with feedback sounds when you press things... That's what this game basically is.
@Rik7711 ай бұрын
And yeah I agree. Board games can't give the kind of positive feedback in the graphics and sound and cuteness that stardew does.
