This will help me just fine since I am a High School MATH Teacher. Most trainers are incompetent. They have NO abilities in pedagogy. Lacking pedagogy, they lack the ability to empathize because the trucking industry is dominated by the ALPHA MALE. You are a genius, buddy. I often thought on how to adapt my math ability to compensate for my severe lack of innate driving skills. I am amazed by many drivers who dominate the truck and park it without second thought.

What you are doing here is fab, I am a returning driver. Got my license way back in 1984 and the last time I drove was 2007. So there's a lot of water under that bridge. Long story short while I had not forgotten everything there were a few things I was rusty on and this is where you have helped a great deal. Keep up the good work

This view reminds me of the super advanced 360-degree camera systems they put on some high end cars which use multiple cameras to show a simulated overhead view of the vehicle. Makes you wonder if one day tractor trailers might adopt something similar for backing purposes. Or even some kind of semi-autonomous parking system like newer cars have. I'm not even one for automation or self driving as I love to do it myself, but there's almost an argument for it in this scenario. Maybe a computer with good precision might even be able to squeeze an extra trailer or two into the same area to maximize space in the lot.

I would say to keep doing what you are doing. This is AN EXCELLENT VIDEO for a beginner driver. I will be a new driver on the road in 2-3 months or so and look forward to finding more videos by experienced drivers such as yourself. Watching a video is something anyone can do. But proper comprehension of the intended message is the most important aspect of any video/educational source. This is where the pausing and explanations come into play. Along the lines of your comment. If someone feels that they don't need clarification. They can use mute. Thank You very much for the time and effort you put into sharing your knowledge and experience.

So I've been on my own now going on a month. I was with my trainer from hell for what seemed like an eternity, however was just over six weeks. But an eternity in dog weeks. He taught me to slow down in curves and not hit anything. Being 55, those things I was already privy to. The first 2 weeks when backing up on my own, well, fckn crazy. Lol Trailer way left, I'm shaking, some truckers pissed, and I'm thinking, I can't do this job. I suck. Then I came upon your vids. Things progressed nicely. Obviously I was over steering. So I thank you for your help. I now wonder, what the hell was I thinking the first 2 weeks? Lol Sure, I'm still a work in progress, but the job is so much more enjoyable now with no stress. Thank you, mate!

I believe what you're doing is great,but the back of the trailer is not the same as the back of your truck. But that's not my issue, that's just tutorial,.... you call this little room to maneuver. I haven't seen your truck almost hit your trailer, saying you have way enough room to maneuver. You did a pretty standard docking. We DO learn these here in Holland. So this is more a complaint about your driving schools than about your video. Keep up this work. I guess many can benefit from it,since ya'll don't seem to learn to much getting the license. Driving a truck requires a good concentrated driver,knowing instinctively how his truck reacts to certain movements of the steering wheel. Most important is to take it easy. Rushing only leads to failure. And a lot of patients dealing with dumb ass drivers who think they're king of the road with their fast loud and fancy cars. Just relax keep your distance and your eyes on the road instead of in your laptop or newspaper.. stay safe all

Hey awesome video man! Now I see it as 10 o'clock and then turn till you are at 8:43 Ha..Ha..>Why not. Just a different terminology, but more simpler.....At the bar to my fellow friends and I will say Ay .So in such......6 o'clock... Which means there is a babe from that stand point of whom that they are directing their call to..... I continued this childish tactic on a job site at QT and I said to our superintendent "Davy" from Venture Construction, Nor...Ga. Ay Davy! 7 o'clock man and he turned to me with his confused look of mock and repeated, and I said back: "Yeah, if you were the center of a clock, what does 7 O'clock look like to you you rosy palm~er..... And he turned `to his 7' and (@*&$^# @*$^# and he met eye contact with this chick that could be someone capable with being on the sport illustrated cover and she was staring at him in a lost trance , almost like a movie and she had been programed to go to him.....Well fast forwards 14 years ....they have now been married since 1 year of that very same day at 7 o'clock at night and now have 4 kids ....He later told me that she said that she could not believe at that time with what she was staring out...and I said what do you mean? He said that she said that he looked just like her late boyfriend of her high school years and that he was killed in a car wreck one night ...and that not only did I look like him!, but that I talked and acted just like him! Davy a few years later gave me this F 150 pick up truck and thanked me, saying that `She had told him that if I would have not said that to make him turn, that she would have went on her way ....So now they are still together and here I am today with no money, and that is why I am going to get into trucking, to make it happen for me.......I want a house and paid for too! Great Kick as set of Videos you have....Man I watch all your stuff and learn so much, much more than from the other videos at my driving school!

My goal is not to compete with truck schools and create a tool for all of them. Having people sit in a classroom is pointless, when they can learn from home on their own time. There is just so much of the truck school that can be done on your phone or computer. The only think I really thing you really need the truck school for it the use of the trucks for the backing and driving. I just feel like you can eliminate the classroom completely. I didn't learn anything in the class room, everything went over my head. I don't learn very well in the any classroom. But give me an something interactive to do and I do much better. You can make pre-tripping, air brakes, combination, log books, trip planning, you can even learn to back up with my game, but you for sure need the actual trucks and trailers to put it do it for real. It just takes the edge off.

@@MyTruckingSkills yes but I'm sure you are familiar with the new federal rules starting February 7th . Just Googled the place. It sucks. Only doors 3,4,5 are remotely ok for a semi. Then you have to stop the LA traffic to back up!!! Which door did you back into ? www.google.ca/maps/@33.9812078,-118.1726827,3a,43.5y,93.56h,81.28t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sOGD21uWgWVHQT8mJ-OvHcw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

Raah Geer my trainer blind sided in door 5, there was two box trucks on each side and we had to tell both drivers to move there mirrors in. I saw how my trainer did it, he had to ride the curb, no choice here, just Inching it back and forth and eventually he got in. It was a nightmare, also check out dadu ice cream in van nuys, that company created there own crappy dock.

Is going to a school worth it? Where i live in Central Texas the nearest school cost $4200. You do acquire your cdl through the class given that you pass..
@MyTruckingSkills
@MyTruckingSkills 3 жыл бұрын
You will pass, that is what the pay them. The only reason you wouldn't pass is if you quit. The reason it cost so much is because they provide the truck, the land, the insurance the employees, the fuel and so much more.

Personally I believe you should only go to the school that moves 53-ft trailers because those are the size traders that you will be hauling in the real world

The class offers 40-60 hrs behind thw wheel. I just want to make sure that's enough driving to pass the driving test with the 3 backs you have too perform.

You really take the time to break all this down which is great, probably one of the better videos I've seen here... but all the stop an go, stop an go, stop an go gets really annoying next time could you show the whole turn in full time first and then go back to the stop an go. I almost didnt wanna wait til the end.

Nice. Im a beginner however we have to back our trailer into school grounds which drives me bonker. S turns that are really tight. They expected me to get it right the first time. I looked at them like they done lost the philip head screwdriver to the screw in their brain.

So just want to know what you guys think I'm a flatbed driver I haul pipe split axle trailer with a peterbilt 579 sleeper tractpr. I recently slid the 5th wheel all the way back ( before it was second to last hole) I figured it will give me better turning and uturn capabilities without worrying about hitting the tractor I'm in nj ny md pa de area I do good amount of city driving and I at times have to go into tight spots make tight turns and some unavoidable uturns. So will having it all the way back effect my turning or backing ? what about winter driving if i'm too light on my steers?? again before it was in second to last so I believe i wont feel a difference at all the truck is in the shop now for maintenance so i'm just analyzing on down time lol

my recommendation to the author of this incredible job is to present the axles of the rotations, to better understand the process, and the entire movement as a combination of rotations and translations.

Thanks you for the info! Appreciate your putting backing in easy to follow steps! I have almost 40k in my training phase haven’t real done any backing as my trainer always takes the wheel! To lazy to get out and spot me! How doesn’t know how to explain the technique of backing! Thank you!

Ya, that's quite typical for trainers. They are only in it for the extra miles they get from the trainees. That's why I do this, because I know most new drivers get bad training.
