Hey. I'm a former May driver/mentor (MTBR-DM: Margaret) and last year became a CDL instructor in Lacey, WA at CDS Commercial Driver School. I just want to thank you for making these videos. I will be directing my students to them going forward (or backward LOL). I especially appreciate that you use the wording you use as it matches exactly what we teach here. If you're ever at the Flying J off Exit 99, let me know. I'd be honored to meet you and introduce my students. Thanks again.

I've been training drivers for years and technology such as drones, cameras, editing capabilities has taken training and explaining to a whole new level. Monitoring once comprehending is another step in the holy grail of developing a safe, more intelligent, productive driver. Drone footage like this would be a great training tool and documentation tool in my arsenal of training aids and tools. How long can your camera stay afloat and how much do you have invested?
@MyTruckingSkills5 жыл бұрын
The drone stays up for around 15 mins. I have spent around $7k on hardware. I pay$100 a month to use the editing software. Very professional stuff going on here. Thx for your comment.

Damn good video! It’s actually genius to toss your drone up to watch. Being able to look at the phone screen or tablet screen at your blind corner from above is incredibly HELPFUL. To know you’re ok to push back/reverse a little further when normally we would be puckering a bit wondering how the blind corner is doing against the other trailer, wow 🤩, 👌👍. Any drivers watching this I GUARANTEE will seriously be considering purchasing a good drone to do exactly what you have done. Very very good demonstration and very cool learning video.

24 years in the industry, this is an excellent perspective. Two key take aways: 1) [Short] Minimize trailer tandems "shallow" approach. Aim trailer tandems closer to nearest parked trailer obstacle. 2) [Long] With a "shallow" approach, the trailer swing "deep" is also minimized.

Great videos ! I have 14 years of driving experience. YOU NEW DRIVERS needs to watch and learn. These are some really great tips. And I promise that this Costco facility is EASY. Walmart has places where if you swing your doors open, before backing in, your trailer doors will touch the next trailer as you back in. And the guy next to you with $10,000.00 worth of chrome will be PISSED if you hit his Tractor while backing up...rightfully so. TIME. take it. It's important to get into the door at the required time, but make sure that the area your backing into is done safely, everyone wants to go home at night, including the dock workers not paying attention /w headphones in his ears. Sometimes if you know that your gonna need help....ASK FOR IT. We have all been in that same seat, you are in right now. And trust me, we all need help some of the times. Don't let the gray beards fool you, we have ALL been there. Just don't ask someone from Swift.....Just joking. :) Love you, Swift guys ! OH !!! SLOW DOWN IN BAD Weather. No load is that important, REGARDLESS of what a dispatcher will tell you, They can always reschedule a load, not your life if your in a accident. Keep all 18 on the ground, and watch out for D.O.T. ! AND don't make your dispatchers mad.....They always think their jobs are tough, while being home every night. LOL !!!

What a crazy amount if quality really awesome. I think the only thing I'd do different is just keep going further down more straight that way you can jackknife it a little more easier that way you won't be too too close to the wall the only issue with my idea is the timing since everything is based on when you turn the steering wheel with not much room to correct
@NatoWarPigs3 жыл бұрын
you slide your tandems ? its a tricky one for sure,BUT i think i would have blind sided that one for a few extra feet...plus you would have more swing room on your trailer. IT was a perfect back up IMO.the camera work was what really impressed me ,great job.these companies that think 1 foot is loads of room UGH!
@juanchoalbano4425 жыл бұрын
Great job man! One thing some drivers forget. Here’s a tip @5:35 I see that ur hard chasing the trailer. Next time once ur at that angle, try to straighten the steers, back up, then a half/full turn right if needed, then you’ll know when to follow trailer again ... then next time you won’t have to reset like @6:18.... this has helped me at tighter space using spread axle.
@littlepepper43704 жыл бұрын
Juancho Albano I was thinking the same thing but if you keep it straight I believe the trailer will over shoot and it would be harder to correct once inside the hole no?
@juanchoalbano4424 жыл бұрын
Frank Tran if the trailer over shoot to the driver side means you chase the trailer too late, to correct it, undo what you just did and start chasing the trailer early, with slight adjustment turning to the right as needed or if there’s a wall/fence that could possibly hit.
