The cost mentioned on IndiaMart is just indicative. It may be completely different in reality. Interacting with the sellers gives a better idea of the payments. Also, always always always get samples before placing the final order. Also, Indian sellers may give you the base price and not include the GST (Goods and Services Tax). The rate of GST varies from product to product. Seasoned and legitimate licensed exporters may not charge you GST since they get an exemption from the government. I have experience buying via IndiaMart.

@@Floof_Factory My advice would be to only work with manufacturers who have experience in exporting goods, to avoid unnecessary hassle. They may not have done Amazon FBA but they should be seasoned exporters. Most of them will be able to do your branding work but may need a bit of hand holding.

If you want to be honest about anything - JUST BE DIRECT. The reason why Alibaba is still a crowd favourite is because they are able to produce, make and deliver anything that you request for. india on the other hand is a completely different story - they have no innovations and is only targetted at the domestic indian market.

I have to yet start importing from Indiamart but from what I see, one big advantage there is that sellers have way smaller MOQ that Alibaba

Most of the potential manufacturers from India do not have ecommerce knowledge. I sell printed tshirt and leather bags. Believe me the pricing and quality is better here but you need to find the right manufacturer.
