I watched it this drama when it first came out. This historical drama has a lot of emotional roller coaster feeling. This drama talks about love, unconditional love, sacrifice love. It is a love-hate relationship that they can’t live without. This drama will make you laugh, cry, smile, upset, angry, but it will definitely make you cry an ocean of tears. So if you’re going to be watching this drama make sure you have a lot of tissue paper. I knew going into watching this drama that I will be crying a lot, but I did not expect to be taken on a roller coaster ride. I wish that he could remember her much sooner than much later. The storyline was good enough, all cast members does a great job, leading actor and actress has great chemistry. It would be nice to see a season2, but then again they will be so old (Sad) In my opinion I give it a 8/10.

This drama is sooo good... I can’t stop thinking about it.. it really shows a lot of how personalities can clash ... they went to great lengths to show her personality..she grew up as loving and carefree ... person .. she hate dishonesties and betrayers the most... young and thrown into his world of a different language that she had to learn all with missing her homelands.. she is the one always holding the bitter end of the stick.. so to speak... He came into her world with his back stabbing dog eat dog .. father sons brothers killing each other for power ... women in his world only want material stuff and bitching about each other to stay in favor ... she never lost her foundation of her personality even when she lived with them.. he found it so easy to trick her always .. but like always evil people always want goodness when they see it.. in my view he took everything from her cause her so much pain and mental suffering... she give up getting away to save a child on the night of the fire ... that he created .. jump into a river to save 2 children even tho she can not swim... she never once think of revenge to his people ... she hated herself that she couldn’t even kill him when she had the chance ... I don’t think he suffered enough for his crimes against her.. every person life that he touched ended up in destruction..... he even promised Sese before he left to love her only... but he fully well deliberately went after XF until he stole her love for her teacher away .. he actually force her to watch her beloved teacher being killed by him... at that point I knew he lost everything...knowing when to stop is what keeps you going... he’s a real monster in disguise..I don’t think I ever felt so much dislike resentment and hate for a main lead before ..

Indeed, I just finish watching the 52 ep. Excellent drama ! Will watch 2nd time soon after digesting it ! I accidentally fall on this series because was looking for Caesar Wu acting after "Heart of Loyalty". Agree with all your comments. However, he is not that of a true monster ! he has a warm heart and passion but circumstances and the world he belongs to, contribute to all the mishaps and betrayal, till the non-return point. He is somehow naiv , not dark !

I understand Chinese, so I totally understand the story without any translation. Many audiences have wrong understanding (based on the princess' subjective views) over prince LCY who could be killed anytime by his second brother, or the prime minister Gao Yu Ming if he success in his attempt stealing the kingdom away. So the primary goal of taking down prime minister Gao and the empress was not just the revenge for Gu family and LCY’s mother, but it is life and death to the people of dynasty Li. This plan was made by Chai Mu, Tzi Fu, Pei Chau before the prince LCY met the princess. LCY carried out this plan with tear and he struggled to see bloodshed along the way. And many of the bloodshed like the one of his second brother's was self inflicted. So GXW/LCY was not a cold hearted person at all. After prince GXW/LCY fell in love with the princess, everything LCY did was for and to protect her. The war between Dan Chi (evil to the people of dynasty Li) was inevitable. Killing her grandpa was an order from the emperor. He left everything and followed her jumping into the river of forgetfulness, and also the gate tower, but was stopped by general Pei. It was the princess' brother partnering with a treason attacking dynasty Li. So it was not LCY wanting to invade Si Chou. He was the best and the first emperor who governed dynasty Li with peace and without bloodshed. He never married again and have his own children to success his throne. Everything proved that Li Cheng Yin was not a monster who was ambitious for power. Being born as a prince and the background he was in, he was stuck in a position of making difficult decision. Actually the princess said she would forgive the prince in the story (Episode 8-9) that Gu Xiao Wu was referring himself to while they were on their way finding the princess' grandpa. If Chai Mu, Pei Chau, Tzi Fu can sit down with the princess and explain to her the plan behind of taking down the wicked and corrupt prime minister and the empress, and the way the crown prince temporary treated her was actually a protection for her, and if her teacher Tzi Fu didn't lie to the her and bad mouthed the crown prince LCY, there would not be a tragic ending. I don't feel sorry for the death of her teacher at all. He brought that to himself. He told Ah Du he wanted to live for himself even just for 6 months. So he decided to exit the plan and commit adultery. He has no right to take anyone's wife away. Just like GXW said, she is not an object to be taken away anywhere, anytime. She is the crown prince's wife. Especially the prince and the princess were both in love with each other, and their marriage was working toward a right direction of healing. Moreover, their marriage was a peace treaty between two nations. He was warned by the crown prince and his adopting father, but he chose death. I like many sweet contents, and the twist and turn of this story, but the tragic ending was unnecessary because it was caused by lies, miscommunication and misunderstanding in so many ways, especially with both of them losing and gaining back their memory. This story overall failed terribly to portray "true love" that can heal, overcome, endure, forgive and have a new beginning. The great Grandma was right saying, you cannot hate, but to let go in-order to pick up something more important. Yes, the princess was kind and lovely, but she only demanded an answer she wanted from the crown prince without listening to his heart. Perhaps she was too young and not have the wisdom to understand her own role and the crown prince and so unable to tackle the challenge. I feel very sorry for the crown prince LCY who was blamed for everything.

For those on the fence - if you are in the mood for sadness/ want to cry/ feel righteous anger/ pity/ roller coater of emotions - watch this drama. The character development of FL is awesome - very trusting and happy to dejected and helpless. Both 1st ML and 2nd ML are cruel to her - using her for her connections and draining her of any happiness. Went in to see this drama since I was in the mood for some sadness and cried a boatload of tears. Such an under rated drama with cool visual scenery, fights, multiple palace settings, good acting and bgm.

I had seen clips of Li ChengYin and the way he was portray later in the drama but never had I seen him when he was just a prince. He was so kind and caring of his brother, he didn't even want to betray his brother and be Crown Prince. It's such a pity. There are enemies all around them. It's barely started and somebody is coughing already so you know they are not long for this world (unless it's fake like Prime Minister Gao). I love these dramas, but really tired of the constant 'wongshaw' (your majesty). Eavesdropping is a fine art here, helped by the fact that there are barely any walls and everybody has never heard of whispering. The kind and just princes get punished. This sets the stage nicely for viscious emperors and slap-happy mothers.

Protecting her was not wrong. What he did wrong was specified clearly in the story. He used her to find the location of Danchi to revenge his eldest brother’s death. I'm a little confused, I started watching this on the Viki app and what I watched there is different. Like I'm halfway through this video and it has the same characters and costumes, but it's like I'm getting more background story here? I haven't even started where I left off from the Viki version.
