The REAL Ness tactics: Start off the battle with a Shield β and follow up with a Rockin' Ω. If they're not dead by then, pop a Sudden Guts and try for a SMAAAASH!!! attack. If they're still not dead, go for Flash (if it's effective, otherwise do Paralysis α/Ω depending on how many opponents there are) Also, if you're facing Pikachu, you almost have to do nothing because the Franklin Badge deflects lightning. It also deflects beams, making a fight against a Samus that much less terrifying. Another recommendation would be to use a Gutsy Bat, which despite being rarer and less offensive than the Legendary Bat, makes up for it in making Ness' guts soar, which since there are so many heavy hitters in Smash, it'll be a godsend to hang on with 1 HP if needed. Also, remember that enemies with protective eyewear are more resistant to the lower levels of PK Flash, but none can tank γ (except Samus with her suit) or Ω. Also, never take your eyes off your HP meter. While it is rolling, which reduces stress, you can still die, but ONLY when it rolls all the way down to 0. This gives you enough time to fit in a Lifeup γ (Ω is only important in a team battle since it's multi-target). Also, never forget to get some good items. Skip Sandwiches can double your movement speed for a certain amount of time, and Brain Food Lunches are a full recovery of both HP and PP. Battle items shouldn't be forgotten about either; having the Franklin Badge gives the ability to deflect lightning and beams, and Pencil Erasers and Eraser Erasers allow you to erase anything pencil or eraser-shaped, respectively. Bags of Dragonite let you tear into your enemies so hard that they'll see stars for a week. Also, don't forget that you never actually learn PK Fire, Freeze, Thunder, or Starstorm. Those are Paula's moves, except Starstorm, which is used by Poo along with Freeze and Thunder.
