Hi James that's a lovely layout.well done .I had N Gauge for 35 years and loved it .then I went to O gauge I'm also have 00 gauge so very lucky. I started Model Railway layouts with a second hand 00 Gauge set when I was 5 years old .that was over 60 years ago.its a great hobby. I'm always looking and learning. Many thanks for sharing . Regards Richard Crompton Canterbury Kent.

Cheers very much Richard, I originally had a OO layout when I was younger and mostly just had a loop on a board for a long while heh, did previously tried N Gauge before but it's not till these layouts where I seriously got into building stuff! Glad that you enjoyed the content and hope you enjoy what else I plan to do!

@@GosportRailworks great stuff I might actually dive back into N gauge stuff (was very much Hornby OO when I was a youngster but don’t have the room for that now)
@GosportRailworks2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend N Gauge if low on space, though if you want any specific engine or anything the prices might be high or there may be a wait unfortunately. But there are some nice starter sets out which are quite affordable (The Gaugemaster Industrial Freight one being quite affordable)

Really liked your hedges, never thought of cutting up flat pan scourers. Good idea and a cheap option. 👍
@GosportRailworks4 жыл бұрын
Ta very much, and they seem to work fairly well, tad bit on the blue-ish side but they get the job done, though would recommend using some cheap scissors to cut them, bit more neater and doesn't ruin good scissors or knives!

Coming along nicely James, amazing what you can create with just basic things. Looking forward to the next step. Cheers.

Glad you're enjoying it, will be trying to sort out the electrics in the next episode and adding a few bits of detail here and there, then it'll be nearly done. Do have plans on making some side videos however to cover other things, though would like to get this layout sorted first.

Looks so good. The hedges are great!

Cheers very much, though I should've cut them a bit neater as some are a bit thicker than others but oh well.

Hi as i am new to the train scene i find your descriptions very easy and newbie friendly did i miss it but what track did u use please and can i mix peco with Farish track.
@GosportRailworks4 жыл бұрын
First of all, hello and welcome to the channel, glad you found my descriptions easy, and the track I use is Peco Set Track, it is generally compatible with Farish Track, I know there are a few differences but for the most part they should work together fine.

Well done James, looks really good. How many layouts have you got now? Keepit up mate.👍

Hey Howard and Let's see, not including anything from my past attempt at model trains (which didn't go well), there was Renham Downs, Minstowe Road, Test Track, the Noticeboard layout, Bosnport, and also this one. But Renham Downs and the Test Track have been recycled/sold/given away so don't have them anymore, so just got the Noticeboard layout, Bosnport, this layout and Minstowe Road (which I might redo). I'll prob give this one away as well along with the noticeboard layout when I get round to making other layouts as do have ideals for many more but not really enough space, so might as well help get others into the hobby by giving layouts I finish away (or sell them if anyone is interested in them).

what name of the layout design web site you used to design your layout I was really interested as your design I can use doing a ww1 trench layout

The software I use is a free downloadable program that you can get here: xtrkcad-fork.sourceforge.net/Wikka/HomePage sourceforge.net/projects/xtrkcad-fork/ (seems to be the main place now) I do have a video showing how to use it though it is a little old now (and the sound is bit bad due to old mic), but still somewhat shows the main bits!

Next thing you Can try to do is Put glue down then get some scenic Woods grass down it will really look Sharp.
@GosportRailworks3 жыл бұрын
Was tempted in putting down some grass, then I decided who the new owner would be (a coworker's son) and figured it would be best to leave out anything messy for now

@@GosportRailworks if you ratio carefully it won’t get that messy trust me. I use it on my N Scale and it looks very sharp.

Good going but I think the paint looks a bit too uniform. It needs some detailing.
@GosportRailworks4 жыл бұрын
I had thought that it could do with some extra pieces here and there (did add a few bits in part 4), however I didn't want anything that was too fragile to fix for a beginner, eg. anything which can't be fixed with a dab of glue. But throughout the build I was considering adding some flock/scatter for a bit of texture to the ground but for the intended new owner I didn't want them to fuss with anything that could be too messy.

@@GosportRailworks just watched part 4, looks a lot better. I am looking at doing my first layout but am worried it will look rubbish. Got some good tips here though. Cheers.
@GosportRailworks4 жыл бұрын
Glad that my videos were useful, and from I've learnt so far is sometimes something more simple can look much better (more so with trackwork from past experience), but so long as you're happy with your layout, that's all that really matters.
