Now, that is really cool !!!! Thanks for sharing. I have this little train. I have converted it to Microtrains couplers. Was really a task to accomplish. Kato track worked well, however the Peco track was a bit tougher. Bruce in Minnesota USA

Great. To be honest as they can't really be used for shunting etc the couplers are ok. I love the Kato track and am struggling with Peco on another project. Take care in Minnesota

Well done guys, another very nice looking layout. You could almost swap out the buildings for some small 00 ones and then you've got a ready done 009 narrow gauge layout as well. Those rock faces do make it look like I could be somewhere in Wales. Keep up the great work 👍

Loved this . I wanted a continuous run as a change from my shunting shelf layouts. I bought a second hand Kato M1 track pack, just an oval and power to put together on the kitchen table to watch trains go round. I already had an Atlas diesel and a few coal wagons which run really well. The Kato track impresses , just clicks together and pull apart and the ballasted base is ideal for occasional use.Kato is quality. This set takes 5 minutes from box to go and my grandson loves it and I think he is learning a lot as we assemble the layout and box it up at the end. Please keep the films coming, I look forward to them.

Lovely little layout, Mike. Well done! In keeping with your budget mindedness if you need more Kato track or other items and don’t mind waiting a bit longer (2 to 3 weeks) there’s a great company in Japan called Plaza Japan. Even with postage they’re generally quite a bit cheaper than UK stockists. Particular check their sale items.
@BudgetModelRailways3 жыл бұрын
We used to use plaza but we kept getting caught by import duty and royal mail charges. I use Train Trax as they are in the UK
@fredrich98413 жыл бұрын
@@BudgetModelRailways fair enough. Our son is obsessed with Tomica cars and they’re by far the easiest and cheapest way to get them! There is a way round the import duty/Royal Mail issue for larger orders - use DHL for postage. It’s amazingly quick and not as expensive as you might expect! Last year I had an order from them and one from a certain Sheffield retailer. Both dispatched the same day, but the Plaza Japan parcel arrived a day earlier!!!

How to do something nice with just an oval of rails : see the video, speaks of it more than what I can do. Agreed with you about the Kato track. I have narrow on a close equivalent in OO/HO, the Piko track with ballast, due to its facility of use with integrated ballast. In N, I also use Tomix track, which have a slimmer ballast (close to the Fleischmann Piccolo N track in thickness) due to its broader choice of pointwork, besiddes the ballast thickness. You have to import it from Japan, but I overall prefer it to Kato one. Anyway, Kato track is nice too.
