I always admire how quickly you progress on your micro layouts. Almost makes me ashamed with my lack of progress 😂

Hi Jason, ingenious method for uncoupling, i hope that works for you even with the power feed affecting it! I really like the way you’ve disguised the Kato track, that’s all going to look rather good once the ballast is down. Have a good week, I’m off shortly to work on my model railway, hopefully for a full day! Cheers Jason, John

Really enjoying your progress with this, most enjoyable to watch.

To disguise the small black switch on the side of Kato turnouts, I glue a couple of sleepers to it. They look perfectly natural lying next to the tracks yet don't hinder the operation. Have you considered just using Microtrains magnetic couplers instead of trying to make your own>Since you will only have a couple of cars it shouldn't be too expensive. Thanks for sharing the build. Cheers.

Great progress, mate! Those uncoupling magnets do a great job. And love the 3D printed buffers. Another mate of mine used to do a fantastic job of making Kato track look like the real thing, so looking forward to how yours goes.

Very interesting. I was really impressed with my dabbling with Kato track. I'm hopefully going to make a little oval layout using a CV1 and CV2 set together for my next layout project in a year or so!) I agree that the pre wired/powered turnouts make it so easy to use and the connections between track sections seem much more robust than fiddly fishplates.

Ingenious! Interesting developments too. The kato track looks very good, sleeper layout and spacing, live frogs and nice looking switch blades etc. and its simple to wire. I use their track pins for my modest O Gauge and 0-16.5 ('NG7') efforts, they're far superior, although sometimes in short supply (I've plenty now👍😀). I recall a similar looking track system in OO in the 1970s, I experimented with it, then lost sight of the importer/seller (it didn't catch on), it looked pretty good. But I settled, as a kid, with Peco foam underlay and weathered it and the track. I moved to O to get better looking RTR track (and the bug bit hard - on a budget), and I have to say that Peco have rested on their laurels with their O gauge track, compared to, Eg. Lenz (albeit theirs is continental outline).

@@musoseven8218 I nearly bought a very old Lima O gauge diesel shunter last week at the Bognor show, thankfully I had a reality check when I remembered my lack of space 😂

@jasonpierce-newmodelbarmy3394 That is an issue. Even simple layouts require space (we've not got much). I keep thinking of smaller scales, I used to model N and OO. But, for a time, I'm wed to 7mm. A simple loop round our small garden (3 points add options). If I can get a fiddle yard in the garage that will be fab and if time is kind a small station too. It's been a challenge, but I've learned a lot and when I can, it's so therapeutic, so enjoyable, building wagons etc.

Looking good. That's a bugger about the power feed messing with the magnets. I was a bit concerned that the larger track magnets would send your goods vans flying off the rails!

Cheers, I did make sure that the wagons had plenty of weight inside them😁
