Internals are plastic and they are fragile. After a year of use something sheared inside one of my handles. Nuobell says when that happens, it ALWAYS means the dumbbell was dropped. Well, I guess they are fine with calling their customers liars. The "generously" offered to send a new handle, charge me shipping, and never cover a similar problem again. So, what in the hell is my 2-year warranty for? I regret spending a small fortune on these dumbbells, because they cut corners on the internals.

I received my pair back in November 2021. I paid for the extended warranty (3 years I believe) just in case. I hope I never have to claim it. No major issues, and no regrets buying these dumbbells. You still do have to be mindful if you're placing the dumbbells back after a heavy set of should presses for example to make sure you line it up. Minimal "slop" when lifting and weight distribution is nice and even. I am also mindful of dropping them which for 80s max I'd argue people do it in the gym for attention. If we're talking about 110s or higher than I can understand why you want those off of you asap.

There are tear downs of the handle - def a lot more plastic than that little piece.
@earlteigrob92114 ай бұрын
I just bought these because of great engineering and the fact that all the breakable parts can be replaced. When I start needing more then 80lbs I will probably upgrade to the RepPepin but they are not out for 4 or 5 months and I need something NOW. Packaging and Instructions are very professional...more like buying an apple product then the normal gym stuff.

First day impressions:It arrived in a waist high box. kzbin.infoUgkxP26Tir6n60vUkdtn4mbwhRO8cwuJQNy2 Each dumbbell was in its own foam box within the shipping box. Everything was secure and in good shape. No weird smells. The weight changing mechanism is really smooth and straight forward. Changing weight is really fast and easy. Though the handle is plastic, I don't think it will be breaking anytime soon. So far pretty impressed after my first session with them. I was afraid they were going to be too wide at first, but I didn't have any issues with them while doing upright rows.

how was it and how long it took to deliver? I ordered few days back and they havent been shipped yet

@@seanflanagan873 Customer service and delivery was a pain to be honest. They kept promising it would be shipped the following week and I would follow up and they would say the same thing again. I threatened to cancel my order and called my bank card to start the process. Then they magically shipped out a day or 2 after that. I received them and just wound up keeping them! I do like them a lot, good dumbbell feel. I got the all black ones and I feel like the knurling on the handles could be better. The silver handle ones might have better knurling due to no coating.

One of my dumbells has stopped rotating, loading or unloading the plates. The reason is that the plastic reel inside the handle had been broken. Also the springs inside had been dammaged. Any idea where I can send the handle for repair?

I have seen NÜO retailers listed replacement handles for €90 (Flexbell) and €135 (Nüobells) so I am not worried if mine should brake after warranty runs out. Hopefully Nüo can offer some goodwill and sell them directly at lower price.

I’ve been going back and forth between these and Snode. I like the Snodes because they’re all cast iron (except internals) but they’re in 10lb increments. The Nuobells because they have the 5lb increments. Pricing are about the same. But the Rep Pepin look REALLY nice, lifetime warranty and upgradeable over time and you don’t have to change the cradles out. Unfortunately they’re a few mos out if you pre-order now. It would be a no brained if they were available now. No idea what my plan is going to be but there’s sales this week. Soooo…

Thank you for your review! The plastic ends seem concerning for sure. If the plastic bit on the cradle breaks, it seems one can buy a whole new cradle housing for it ($18 for 80lbs. $15 for 50lbs. as of Oct. 2022 for each). I see so many potential red flags however, did you end up getting extended warranty on top of the default 2 years? When grilled on why they use so much plastic. Company states (on FAQ page): "..the resistance and durability of the type of plastic we use is actually stronger than cast iron." Really?! Plastic stronger than CAST IRON. 😂😂

BS. My handle broke when it fell as it rolled off my 18 inch high bench onto my padded gym floor while having 20lbs on it. They then charged me $225 for a new cheap plastic handle. Utter crap of a product and company.

In my opinion powerblocks would have been the right choice. There is no issue with plastic, there are so many years on the market and everybody know that they are built for eternity, lol. I am not a fan of this plastic. Plastic paired with mechanics always will break sooner or later.

Too much plastic. Both in the tabs that you pointed out and the plastic cam followers in the handles that move the shafts in and out. These just aren't made to last. If the handles were serviceable it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but they aren't. When they wear out it's $179 each for new handles, assuming Nuobell is even still making them. The better functionality isn't worth the tradeoff in quality and durability compared to Powerblock and Ironmaster in my opinion.
