I bought the 50lbs nuobells. But 80 is a must if you're looking for long term use and is serious about getting in shape.
@NathanielDowell
@NathanielDowell 2 жыл бұрын
My brother has a set of the Cores, and I while I loved the way they worked, I could immediately curl them at their max of 50lbs. I already had a good selection of traditional dumbbells, from 12 to 50 lbs, but there were gaps, and when I looked at the cost of each set of heavier dumbbells (you could easily spend $1000 just for sets of 55s through 80s), the value of the Nuobells became more apparent. If a 50lb max works for you, then the Cores make a lot of sense. However, if I'm going to get ONE set of adjustable dumbbells to replace my traditional dumbbells, then the Nuobells give me everything I already had, fill in the missing gaps, plus give me 60% more room to grow. I can even do heavy farmer's carries with the 80lbs. I ended up selling my traditional dumbbells, adjustable plates, and a dumbbell rack for 70% of the cost of my set of Nuobells, and I feel like I've gotten a more functional product in exchange.

Completely agree here. There are some ways to extend the life of the 50s, but if you have the funds and are looking for a solid upgrade, the Nuobell 80s have been great so far.
@biknjak

They do get easier to turn, with use. Mine were stiff at first, too. The reason they get easier is that the nylon "cam follower" button (inside the handle that actually moves the adjusting shaft in and out) wears down and gets smoother. Unfortunately, in time (hopefully years) that conversely will be what fails, and you'll have to replace the handle, as they aren't designed to be repaired. I love mine, and have accepted that fact because the dumbbells themselves are so great!

They are my overall favorites. Just cost quite a bit, but cheaper than buying an entire rack of 80s, and saves on space.

Great review! Based on the review of the Nuobells, it really seems like the 50 lb Core Home Fitness dumbbells would be more than enough for 75-80% of people considering their weight & price. Really surprised by the Nuobell cradle being so plasticky, especially the clips which seem like they could easily break. The Core Home Fitness clips are metal, which seems like they probably are a critical part of helping them stay functional for a long time.
@GamerBody

I agree. The average person should just stick with the Core Fitness dumbbells right now just to save money and work with a weight they will most likely use for a long time. Maybe after a few years, move to the Nuobells.

You should not listen to this guy, he literally doesn't know anything of which he speak. The extra weight will be usefull for multiple exercises.. Bench Press, Bent-over Rows, Deadlift, Stiff-legged deadlift, overhead presses, Squats, Goblet Squats, Dumbbell cleans, Farmers walk, Step-ups, weighted lunges and many many more... Also, I've not seen anyone who has had any issues with Nuobells, but I've seen A LOT who have had issues with Core Home Fitness, so that really speaks for itself. I found a couple of issues with people who seemingly had "Nuobells", but reading the posts it came out that it was knock-offs, so be vary of that & only buy them from validated resellers.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 жыл бұрын
This depends a lot on your current level. If you have been lifting for years, sure, the 80s will be great. However, if you are starting out or only have a little experience, 50s will be all you need for a long time while saving a lot of money. I've only been using only the 50s for the past 8+ years with great success. I personally would not be able to afford the 80lbs Nuobells if it wasn't for the ad revenue from the GamerBody channel. I greatly appreciate everyone who watches, comments, and helps support it so I can continue bringing my experience with each piece of equipment I test.

Wish they had these 15 years ago when I bought a full 3 tier DB rack with 5's to 85's. Back then the only option was nordic select tek 55 pound adjustable which was too light. These 80 lb nuobells would've been perfect and make moving between 3 different homes so much easier.

@MA-hp9eo

Had these for about a year, they have a weakness in the handles, more specifically the plastic tracer between the metal that extends when changing loads, over time it smooths out making the dumbbell entirely useless, nüobell must be aware of this since their selling the handles separately, their price point is a big high, at least where i live, also the guarantee is only 1 year, so i can't recommend these, their great, dont get me wrong, but not made for longevity. I'm not really updated on price point for the competition, but when i did my review the general consensus was ironmaster and powerblocks are the best, sadly they dont sell them in norway. I lean more towards the powerblocks considering changing weight seems like less of a hassle, and they have a pretty great historical track record.

I think Nuobell is overcharging for these dumbells. It's still only 160 lbs of material. I think they could lower the price to maybe $100 higher than a fixed set of 80lb dumbells.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 жыл бұрын
Possibly, they are quite a bit more than the Core Fitness Dumbbells, but those only go to 50lbs each. Regardless, if you get the Nuobells at $775 you are still saving both money (if you do $1 per pound) and a ton of space vs a rack of dumbbells. Buying each dumbbell would be in the ballpark of $1360 (again, if it was $1 per pound and you bought each dumbbell separately).

Thanks for spending the money to get the Nuobells and doing the review! I purchased a Hyperbell using you code. I emailed Jayflex to let them know that there was some damage to the box because they did not tape the ends, but the Hyberbell was fine. I also asked if they might consider adding clamps that could fit the Nuobells, and all they said was "We look forward to making some more options in the future." I think the designers of the Nuobells tried to steal some length from the handle to prevent the dumbbells from becoming too long at higher weights. It would have been cool if they could have figured out a way to use 10lbs plates, along with both 2.5lb and 5lb plates that could be swapped in, to get the same range of weights. I have the Core Fitness dumbbells and the 100 lb Telk dumbbells, which are just like the Yes4All dumbbells you reviewed except that the plates have an enamel coating. I was considering replacing both of those with the Nuobells, but now I won't consider it unless something changes with the Hyperbell. I do like using the Hyperbell with the Telk dumbbells above 50lbs, and I want to be able to do that with the Nuobells before I get rid of the Telks. I think you will really appreciate having the Nuobells and you will be glad you can go higher than 50lbs. However, I found that going to failure with the Telk dumbbells at higher weights also makes it harder for me to set them down gently. Luckily, the Telk dumbbells are much less sensitive to being dropped. I look forward to hearing how the Nuobells work out for you as you lift more weight.

@@airplaychay1612nope. In my experience with the Core Fitness Dumbbells they have done everything very well and on par with the Nuobells (very similar in design). I am a little surprised that everyone is complaining about the cost - they are pricy but in the same ballpark as other competitors with similar weight amounts (i.e. 80-90 pounds - ironmaster, power blocks, bowflex). I can understand the concerns over the plastic breaking - but other then that these are generally superior to competitors at a similar price. Now, if you want to compare the 50 pound weights and knock-offs well that is a different story...I can see how those would be much less if you are fine with less weight or willing to take a chance on the knockoff. Even with the Nuobell knock-offs I have seen though - I don't see the exact same (5-80 pounds in 5 pound increments), and instead I usually see 32kg ones that go in 4kg increments - which is less weight and a lot less increments. Personally I have some old power blocks that go to 90 pounds but changing on 5 pound increments is a hassle so I would probably get Nuobells if I would start again today. And if you are fine with 50 pounds, I think the 50 pound power blocks (which do have 5 pound increments) are actually underrated.
@steverapos3904
@steverapos3904 2 жыл бұрын
I forgot, if you want heavy at the best price, the fake bowflex 90's are generally a good deal - 5 pound increments up to 90 pounds. Up here in Toronto Canada I see a small company selling them for about $400 USD (brand new) - that is a lot of weight for the pounds. They aren't the most ergonomic or most durable but the value for all those weights and increments is outstanding.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 жыл бұрын
The price is just in general. I don't personally know many people that can drop $700+ on any fitness equipment. Comparatively, yes, other brands may be similar, but looking at the 50s with the Nuobells they are around $600 which is nearly double the cost of the Core Fitness Dumbbells for the same weight. If you need the 80s, I'd look at Nuobells as I love this type of design (handle changing weight) but if 50s is all you need, I personally go Core Dumbbells to save a lot of money for a product design that is excellent. If they add the knurled handle to the Core Fitness Dumbbells I'd buy another pair in an instant. Most people I know don't need 80s at all and can just use 50s. I used just 50 for over 5 years with good results. The ironmasters are intriguing, but take way too long (for me) to change the weights. I never really liked the Bowflex design as the length always stays the same no matter the weight. They should still work, and if you can get it for $400 at 90lbs that is pretty amazing. I may not like the design, but hard to pass up the cost of those for the weight you can get.

The warranty is meaningless as SMRFT will deny ANY warranty claim and blame YOU for "dropping" the dumbbells..... good luck !

That is probably a scam if you are looking at Nuobells, or it is just 1 of the dumbbells, not both.

Great concept but poorly manufactured. They are damaged way too easily. It's not worth the price

Mine are still going strong and I use them weekly. I think if you drop/bash them around they will be hard to keep in shape. Mine are on a rug surface and I don't drop them (also I don't recommend dropping them). Otherwise they have been fine.

The plastic cradle is just unacceptable to me. The fact that it's only backed by a two years warranty doesn't bring much confidence in the long term.

From what I can see it will hold up unless you are dripping it with some force back in. It is sturdier than I expected, but it is plastic.

Why are you investing in all these expensive equipment. Have you read The ultimate iSOMETRIC Manual ---. The science is good, the results explosive excellant, the equipment CHEAP.
@GamerBody

Isometrics are fine but pretty boring. I may read the book though ;) It is a bit more expensive, but overall cheap if you want to avoid door damage and save space. I don't mind paying a bit more for items that are solid products, can do multiple things, and focus on the exercises that have stood the test of time. While isometrics can build muscle, not many people will stick with that approach. I will continue to have the cheaper products, but I'm personally looking for ways to enhance my setup. For example, I am looking at the V-Form trainer which is similar to a Tonal but you don't need a wall. This product can match strength/resistance curves and fits in a closet. The downside is it is VERY expensive compared to my setup, and no good vertical pull option right now.

@@Nagpadawala I agree. I understand how they are used, but the application of doing it is the problem. All you need is to put the muscle under enough tension/stress with some time under tension (safe duration based on resistance) to adapt and get stronger. Certainly can be done with isometrics, but applying it into a workout isn't very fun. You also might not develop the same muscle/strength gains at certain parts of a lift, and it requires understanding where the strong part of each exercise is to fatigue the muscle at that point. In short, I agree with you regarding results you can achieve, but behavior and application by an individual will be the issue and why I don't personally do or recommend it long term.

How so? I had them a very long time and they were perfect (well if the handle was just slightly longer they would fit the Hyperbell bars). I have seen some reviews with channels breaking down the dumbbells as there is a plastic selector, but again, I used them without any issues at all and are my #1 recommendation if you can afford them (for 50s, I would get Core Fitness as the price is better).

And for the cons: 1. The handle could definitely be longer & as I've spoken with the creators of Nuobell, I'm pretty sure this will be fixed in upcoming versions. 2. The plastic parts has not broken for anyone, who owns original Nuobells... is it a fear, sure.. HOWEVER! the plastic parts is also what allows it to be put more easily into the cradle and give it just a little bit of room, rather than it all being metal with no jiggle... though, I would have wanted the plastic part of the craddle to be a higher quality & more durable plastic, but that would also make the product more expensive. 3. The handle is not hard to turn at all, it's more "stiff" than Core Home Fitness, but it's also MUCH HIGHER quality. 4. The price is not that high at all, for proper fitness equipment. Simply save up for something that is better, than buying multiple cheap crap that add up to the same. Would I personally like it to be cheaper? of course... but I also know what products like these are priced at and it seems barely in the higher end, comparing it to similar products (Powerblock e.g.). And you should remember to say "in my opinion" in your videos, in general, because you spread a lot of bullshit, as if it was fact, which it's not. Telling people they don't need that much weight, wtf xD that really is not for you to decide & entirely comes down to how people are training/working out. 99% of people would DEFINITELY need more than 50lb/20kg for many exercises.
