True. I remember listening to an album with all 24 pieces and I absolutely always skipped #4 because I found it boring. Dueñas showed dimensions to this piece I didn't know were there.

@@Xerkun Interesting. #4 has always been one of my favorites ever since I heard Ziyu He play it in Menuhin. I don't really even like the other ones. There was a famous violinist - I forget who - who said that #4 was one of Paganini's more musical caprices out of the 24.

Ah yes, same for me. My classical music knowledge is pitiful and to be honest i don't particularly enjoy this piece (probably because i don't understand it well) but she is so magnificent i just watch and listen in stunned awe.

Her sound is uncanny. Never has a solo violin sounded so big and her tone is just sumptuous. Add to that her imagination and temperament and you have a pretty heady outcome. Best version of this piece I have ever heard.

That’s the thing. For those of us who have heard N violinists play these caprices we usually develop some kind of perception of what each one sounds like over the years. And then here comes Maria and she completely shatters those perceptions and somehow makes it sound like each one of these pieces was written for her. She is everything, and more.

This is, bar none, the best interpretation of this Caprice in the world. Probably the best performance of it ever, since its composition in the early 1800s. I just recorded and uploaded my own version of this caprice, but it doesn't hold a candle to this one!
