Yes it is, you just have to loosen the throttle a bit. I drove a GSX-R 600 K6 for 35 000 km with rarely using the clutch for upshifts, and had no problems with the gearbox or the clutch. By loosening the throttle the gears will engage smoothly.

Is this the best a production bike can do. I think not. It's the same time as Helmut Dahne did in 1994 on a Honda RC30 VFR750R. That's the last year that bike racing was held on The Ring. I think with a top current rider on a BMW 1000RR, sub 7 minutes for a full lap and 6 min 30 sec for a BTG are possible. Unfortunately very few, if any, riders with the talent to do those times are willing to risk it at the very unforgiving Nurburgring circuit. While driver skill is important for lap times, rider skill is a critical factor in achieving top lap times. Helmut Dahne raced the same production Honda 750 at Isle Of Man in 1994. The production lap record at Isle Of Man had decreased by 17%. Take 17% away from his full circuit Nurburgring lap time and 6 min 57 sec is possible. Take 30 secs away for Bridge To Gantry time and 6 min 27 is feasible. Still, the very fastest cars with pro racing drivers would be 10 secs quicker but there is not a lot in it. I say with a top rider on a top production bike it would be in top 10 of all vehicles.

Nordschleife, part of the Nürburgring in Germany. It's possible to go there with your own vehicle. But it's dangerous as fuck.

Yes you can even downshift without the clutch, but it's harder to get it right (match the revs so the gear will pop in smoothly).

+Bitter Tronicus Comparing times of cars and bikes on the nordschleife is really, really stupid. The owners of the ring are very restrictive about bike testing on the track. If you actually took a top production motorcycle and did some serious testing and training with it on the track, it would kick the asses of many cars on the nordschleife. Besides, there are some videos showing bikers going even faster than 7:50 on the ring. And anyways, this whole comparison and fighting over "Bikes vs cars " is pointless really. It is really annoying that people like you have to make such comparisons over and over again

+Bitter Tronicus I have no idea why you just made that statement, I am admittedly a motorcycle fan but I admit that cars are faster in general. My point was that you cannot just take the laptimes of cars and motorcycles on the nordschleife and draw general conclusions about which one is better in generalt, because there is a high bias towards the automobile side on the nordschleife. There has never been any serious training/testing/record breaking attempts on the nordschleife with regard to motorcycles, because of the restrictions against motorcycles. In other words, motorcycles aren't given a fair chance on thisntrack. So yeah, it kind of pisses me of if people just use numbers in a distorted way. So YOU are the one you uses facts when they are on your side but ignores the other side of the coin, not me.

+nutellabananenmist Not true because the position nr 70 on the list says it all , it is way back many seconds from the first 50 car models so no matter what training or testing could ever take place there the position would never be bested by more then 10 places according to the times the cars ranked 60-70 are achieving ( at most ! ) because anyway on this very video we observe a driver and a bike both AT THEIR LIMITS . So stick with the facts and don't try to present night as day regardless of how much you love bikes not unless when you say fair change you mean that a jet turbine should be added on that kawa ... Be more objective ok ?
