Riding the BMW S1000RR from Wunderlich GmbH on the Nürburgring Nordschleife was great! This lap was filmed at the Perfektionstraining from the Motorrad Action Team (motorcycle only event). If you want to ride the Nordschleife two days Motorcycle only, stay tuned for their event next year! :) I followed Basti from Wunderlich riding a BMW S1000R. We tested the Wunderlich suspension upgrade for the electronic stock suspension and it works great. The bike was stable at all times! Basti had a little moment which lead to grabbing the front brake abruptly. Pace was BTG 7:42. Big thanks to the Motorrad Action Team for having me on the best track and Wunderlich for the bike to ride! Enjoy the Onboard :) Cheers!

Bikers are an amazing bunch - I am very proud to have been an active one in my youth. I still love bikes and when I am driving and see one coming from behind me in my mirror, I wind down my window just to listen to the music when they pass me, and I always say out loud, "ride safe". In 1981, at just 21 years old, I was hit off my Suzuki GS1000S by a drunk driver, which not only put me in hospitals for almost four years and provided me with around 30 major operations, it put an end to my biking, which is why I always say that when I see them go by. On normal roads I always indicate left and drive to the kerb in order to let them pass, as I know what it's like to be stuck behind cars from all those years ago.

Imagine what it feels like to go 170 mph (265 kph) on a naked bike. Your helmet is pushing your face back with so much force that it feels like it's trying to break your neck. You need to hold on with a death grip and try to stick to the tank with all your might. Wow..
@brianglendenning16322 ай бұрын
Most I have done is an indicated 256 km/h on my 17 s1000r at Sydney Motorsport Park - and I am sure a better rider would achieve more but this was repeatable at my modest skill level - but while it is a bit harsh I did not feel my neck was at risk of breaking or a need for a death grip. It was fine. What was clear, lapping with an s1000rr of the same year, was how much faster the fairing and higher top end made it down the main straight compared to the R. On some corners the different engine tune meant the R was a little punchier out of corners.

Very interesting. The S1000RR has a clear and obvious advantage in power : weight, it's faster everywhere, although the difference isn't all that obvious because of rider discretion. The one I really notice, is how much more the camera rider trusts his front tyre. The BM is prepared to go way deeper into corners and still be slowing, tips in faster, tips in harder, looks to have a lot more up his sleeve than the naked. Now that may be reflective of the ability of the bikes, or it may be reflective of the ability of the riders, or it may just be a question of confidence, or ? Who knows, but it is very visible. The camera bike is making up heaps of ground at the end of braking and tip-in. Whether he really does have heaps more front end grip, I don't know, but he certainly thinks he has.
