N Scale: Functional Intermodal Container Crane (DYI, Freelance)

Container cranes are cool! And now that we have some intermodal train cars and containers, thanks to Ian and Cam at Lehigh River Subdivision, we needed a crane! So we made one!

Thanks for your kind comments, Frank! ...We try and keep in mind sharing as many details as possible. But many times at this point, it’s our first time doing something and we skip that part 😊 But if we miss something that somebody wants more info on, I recommend them sending us an email and I can try and get them more of those details they’re looking for!

There are older intermodal yards that were very small and odd-shaped/placement. So in a way your "freelance" yard is really just following the prototype in the early days. Everything is looking great.

Sorry to hear that. But no, we have no real good advice. Ours have not been derailing so we haven’t had to deal with that. Ours are Kato if that helps at all.
