These Kato loco units with those brass motor tabs are the ultimate PINTA to install. It's very easy to bend or distort the left and right pick-up rails and then you have to try and get the plastic motor tab pushed down hard enough over the new circuit board to make sure the tabs make contact with the board itself. I have has about a 50% success ratio getting the loco to run properly with the Digitrax DCC. Most of the time, the light board will illuminate but the loco won't move because the pickup is so sensitive to get current to the control board itself.By Kato claiming "DCC Friendly", they must mean "DCC Aggravation". Most Atlas and Intermountain FT, F3, and F7 locos are MUCH easier.

DCCTRAIN hi i ran into problems I installed dcc decoders in both A -B units like on your video but my dcc controller can’t read cv’s The decoder won’t even lock into place I don’t know what to do your video was nice and clear Even the little pen will lock in place is a mess

I had one that went perfect and the other loco, the plastic clip did not have enough pressure. I ended using a small piece of silicone wire sheath from a stripped wire, and katon tape and it worked perfect. Any more issues and I'm going to solder it :)

@@dcctrain thanks! Have to send the Zephyr Express back for warranty. The forward switch on the Zephyr gives 0% power at any throttle, but jump packs, and the wifi with phones, forward does work. Major bummer.

@@dcctrain I did a factory reset Digitrax asked me to do. Forward worked, I switched to brake, and kept going forward, so I cut throttled. Hit reverse, it went reverse, then selected forward and it wouldn't go forward. O% showed for throttle percentage. I'm going to try and flash the software and see if it helps. If not I have to send it back to Digitrax which sucks. I got it new on Friday
