Always see old, rustic looking layouts so it's nice to see a more modern, urban looking layout. Very nicely done and one of my favourites on KZbin

4 people are clueless as to what kind of effort and dedication goes into building such a vivid layout (or maybe any model railway layout for that matter). This build is inspiring.

Merci! Yes, once I discovered the current and historical aspects of the SNCF, it quickly became my favorite! I don't think any country has as many fascinating types of trains as France! From the Chapelon Pacific, to the TGV, BB 12000, and of course the 'broken noses'! Thanks for your post!

I wish I had the energy and the patience to build something like this. When I was younger, maybe but not anymore. Very nice work indeed.. I can't believe there's 35 people out there that didn't like this.

Thanks a ton for doing this video. I always wondered where your whole layout has ended up. I especially like how much light you got in there now coming through the garage door. The tool chest for the trains is a great idea.

Hi Joe, thanks for the comeback.I went ahead and did some research and did some checking and comparing prices regarding HO to N scale off hobby store web sites and have decided that the N-scale would be a good fit for my available room and budget.I think i'll go with an American themed layout as you mentioned the cost difference with the foreign trains.Enjoy your layout,thanks again!

Great Layout! I wish I had the space to do this! It is really detailed and I like the removable part to clean the tracks! I wish I had tought of that on mine.

Thank you Jeffrey! I'm partial to Kato Unitrack - particularly their turnouts/switches/points. While nothing is perfect, I've found their turnouts to be highly reliable. I also like Kato's super-elevated curves and having the built in ballast/roadbed can be nice too. But they don't have a flex track option, so I do combine with some Atlas flex track as well as some Minitrix turnouts which work better for yards than the Kato turnouts.

Well, I have to tell you, this comment made my day!!!! I am so glad he enjoys it! Unfortunately I personally don't know anyone in Edmonton (Calgary, yes), but there is an "Edmonton Model Railroad Association" that seems to have a model railway that is on display for the public at times? I would google their name and contact them. If you ever get to Spokane, my dad is part of the Evergreen RR club which also has a public layout. Good luck!

Very good and interesting video. I especially love the urban flair of the V1 part. As a sidenote, I live were the original of the church on V1 is standing (if it's the Vollmer kit). It's funny to see it around skyscrapers, because we don't have any here. Fit's well, though

LOVE IT! I just started and love your attention to detail ….. I wish I knew how to print those background templates you have for building windows
@Quinntopia4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Yes, windows are undoubtedly the most difficult thing to try and replicate. For modern style buildings, I found one trick using laser printers and clear plastic sheets that sort of works, but it seems like there should be an easier way! If your interested I talk about it on my blog post on the station terminal scratch build quinntopia.blogspot.com/2012/05/terminal-station-construction-update.html?m=0
@PorschePrestige9874 жыл бұрын
@@Quinntopia I found your blog before I found your youtube channel ....Your kit bashing and combining builidngs to make bigger more unusually ones inspired me. I havent even scratch the surface on your wiring technique. I have been using those small single led pre wired lights. but that method is expensive and limited when i watched you build Skynet I was impressed

@Quinntopia4 жыл бұрын
Siniaya Kantrell Yeah, I know those products! The cost can really add up! II found learning how to do some basic soldering was a good skill to have to wire up the much less expensive led wire strip lights you can get on eBay. Maybe this is a video that I should create some time....

you welcome this made my day because I love trains
@Quinntopia11 жыл бұрын
To start with, as long as you only have one train operating on your layout at the same time, it doesn't make sense to have DCC right away. However, as you add more locomotives you will definitely want DCC! Just make sure the locomotives you buy now have the ability to be upgraded to DCC easily (well, pretty much any locomotive can be upgraded, but those that are 'DCC ready' are usually easier). With DCC there is extra cost and benefits, but its fine to start with plain old DC and upgrade ltr.
@IanBMorris11 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the Video! Your layout is fantastic. It was nice to have a tour from a down-to-earth tour guide. I'm looking to get back into model railroading after 13 years of absence, any time for someone starting out again? My older stuff in storeage is HO scale, which obviously is much bigger than N, but still in good shape I believe :)

This is incredible, I love it! Kudos for your great work, it made me decide to make my next layout N-scale :] I have a couple questions. Which is the red train next to the ice-t train and where did you get those two trains? Also, where did you get the tall buildings in the Version 1? I am having difficulty finding buildings past a few floors high.
