Jerry, I know that these things happen to every model railroader. Despite planning and thought, there is always room for improvement. That said, i am very sad to see Quintopia bite the dust i saw it as a showcase for your talents and a beautiful little fantasy world. I am a pilot, and live on a flying community, and have a finished room 22'x 38' above my hangar, i have an Ogauge RR, and an Nscale RR, both of which are being deconstructed. you know, that we are never 100% satisfied. I look forward to see your new layout take shape. Will it be another Quintopia?

WOW. Very difficult decision to make, but you've learned from your mistakes and it is time to develop something better. Quinntopia 1 was certainly well documented and will always be accessible through video. We all look forward to watching as Quinntopia 2 unfolds. All the best and have fun with it.

Woah, didn't expect to see Dropzone Commander tanks in this video! The scale is 10mm, so about right for N scale I guess.

Glad to see that you're thinking about creating a new. I can possibly show you some tricks for the wiring, plus some cool subway station kits I've seen. I'm also excited to see that EH200 painted up, any ideas on the scheme? Matt W.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to doing some painting...just need to pick a scheme!

Thanks for the update. I totally get everything you say. I went at my layout wanting to simultaneously run as many trains as possible; now I think I have too much track. Good luck with the new plan, I'll wait with anticipation to see it come together. Any chance you'll post your new track plan on your blog?
@Quinntopia9 жыл бұрын
I'm still working on the track plan....I go back and forth between a standard rectangular 'walk around' or an around the room sort of modular approach, so I've got some big decision to make before I have a plan! It will be posted once its done though!

A very informative video. I'm at that point with my layout. I want to either fix it or tear it down. Some of my non model railroading friends can't believe I would tear it down but its easier after all. Cardstock city is my first real layout and mistakes the same as yours are there. I'm inspired by your railroad and have a long way to go in experience. Now I know to get all the wiring and track working Before scenery. I agree n scale switches are tough. Next time it will be all kato as I like the power routing features. My present layout is freelanced but all local lines to from the maryland virginia and a little pennsylvania are represented. Too expensive right now to start a new layout but i have enough atlas track to build a 6x3 foot layout that was given to me. I'm sure you next layout will be really cool, cant wait to see it. what an awesome hobby.

Hi Sam! Thanks for your post! I'm still in the stages of 'thinking' about my next layour rather than doing anything with it myself!

Good luck with the future projects. At least there are many videos of Quinntopia to reminisce over. I have too many projects , but at least I am usually working on one of them.
@Quinntopia9 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it can be a problem juggling too many projects at once! As you can tell from my video! :-)

Yeah I was wondering how that was going to go , when I was in N scale I had many of the same concerns ...but I did one thing I thought I would never do and that quite N scale all together and went to HO ...with all their engines with sound at a great price I have to take the jump....now I have to tweek the bench work for the curves and figure out a new plan for what I want for industries and pass service ....so we are both in the same boat ...I look forward to seeing where you go with yours ....
@Quinntopia9 жыл бұрын
Nooooooooooooooooo..... :-) Yeah, I get it! I really do envy the "Horribly Oversized" scale! The number of models that would never be made in N is what gets me! Will I make a switch? Probably not, because the large buildings/urban landscapes are what I enjoy most and you can fit more scenery into the same space.
@trackspike649 жыл бұрын
Quinntopia yeah I have heard that before ...and I know its a big trade off from n scale but when you are able to hear the engines come alive with the sound and smoke it just does something ...and with the scale getting more and more updated with stuff it can only get better ..a lot of my engines are Broadway limited and I see they are making them in n scale now with sound but will smoke ever go there , ? I am sure one day it will ....just like the stuff I have accumulated in such a short time ....as I might have said I have triple what I had in N scale ....35 engines and 250 pieces of rolling stock and 4 pass sets ....the fun just keeps going ...I am so much looking forward to your new layout ....

HO scale is really fun. I actually have an entire roster of Amtrak equipment, and have enough to make about 3/4 of the Amtrak Silver Meteor.
