Very neat and orderly!!! That will simplify any troubleshooting ..... Nicely done!

Thank you. Yes, it makes troubleshooting a lot easier! I did the same on my old layout and it really helped

Nice layout lots of detail.

Thanks Dave! Assume you are talking about my previous layout on this channel? Not much detail on the new one at the moment, as still just at trackwork stage

Thanks for sharing. I would like to know more about each piece. My Shed is under construction. and I will soon be needing to figure out just what you finished. Thanks again.

Thank you, Vincent! Great, I will look at putting together a short video on each item, describing what it is and what it does. What DCC system are you going to be using?

@@peter_borcherds I have digi trax. And so do most of my friends around me. Oh and thanks again. I look forward to watching.

@@Vman7757 Great, that will make my videos easier for you as that is what I use. I'm pretty busy this week but will try get at least one done this coming weekend.

DCC can be two wires also if what you want is equivalent to DC with two wires. But before all this was available on DCC there were similar systems with equally complex wiring and devices for the DC world.

Yes, of course, but see my reply to Styrene Replicas below...I was referring to the common statement that all DCC needs is two wires...I wasn't referring to DC

Great video. What are the white blocks that your bus wires go in and out of for? Thx
@peter_borcherds3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! They are literally just to hold the wires, no other function. They are cabinet blocks, but I am using them just as wire guides

if you didn't have all the electronics there would be only 2 wires.....lots of stuff going on... thx 4 sharing.. vinny

Very true...but as soon as you add just one DCC controlled turnout, you have more than 2 wires...the joys of DCC! :-D

Well done wiring and description. However I must take exception with your opening statement regarding how "in the old days with DC" there were only two wires and now what rivals a NASA spacecraft is required. If your goal was to frighten off anyone contemplating DCC you succeeded. I would love to have seen the necessary wiring required to accomplish even half of the functions you have such as block detection, short circuit protection, accessory busses etc. with "the old" DC. My humble opinion is it would have been nice to preface the discussion with the capabilities of DCC but emphasize that unless all of the bells and whistles are wanted DCC is no more complicated than DC but with only two wires DCC will allow running multiple locomotives independently on a single track. Hi Dave! No, I wasn't comparing it to DC...I was saying that one of the early sales lines for DCC was "it only needs two wires to run multiple trains", which technically is true if you just want to run trains and throw the switches manually. But as soon as you start adding powered switches, block detection, signalling, etc, it quickly becomes a rats nest. But at no time did I compare it to DC, as DC has a lot more wiring if you want to just run a few trains as you have to power each block and have switches to turn the blocks on and off, etc.

Well done, however . . . how did you figure all this out? It is far from intuitive. The neatness of the wiring is outstanding.

Thank you! Makes it a lot easier to troubleshoot...! I watched a lot of KZbin videos...besides I’ve had Digitrax for 20 years so have learnt bits over the years. I also run an IT Support business so ‘logic’ is one of my strong points
