NÆ - "Temporal Biomes Volume I: 'Cave / Earth's Core" (Live) @ The 150 Media Stream | Chicago

Performance artists JaNae Contag and Ryan Black present Temporal Biomes, an original experimental soundscape project commissioned by the 150 Media Stream and performed in the lobby of the 150 N. Riverside building in Chicago, IL. Their structured improvisational performance transforms the personal and shared architecture that defines corporate office spaces through imaginative, evolving sound. Temporal Biomes invites viewers to slow down in their day-to-day lives, and spend time immersed in a sonic journey that navigates through imagined forests, deserts, coral reefs, outer space, and beyond.
"Cave / Earth's Core" Program Notes:
We are still deep beneath Earth’s surface, emerging from the server farm into an enormous chamber. Stalagmites and stalactites drip softly within the cave. Exploring further, we encounter glimmering gems in a jeweled room secluded from the main cavern. Beyond the crystals and prisms, we enter a room with a wall of flickering shadows. Is it Plato’s cave? Amidst the bats and sticky guano floor, we see a torch on the wall - fire. Has someone just been here? Following wet fossils reflecting the flames, we move to the heart of the Earth. Tectonic plates start shifting, unnerving us. We hear the Earth’s heartbeat, and we must escape - quickly!
