JOHN K LOCKE ले BUDDHIST MONASTERIES OF NEPAL किताब लेख्दा 5 बर्ष सम्म नेपालका सबै बौध्द बिहार ( बाःहा ) क्रममा सबै लिखित तथा मौखिक कुराहरु सुने । त्यस बाहेक म पनि इतिहासका बिध्यार्थी भएकोले मैले बिभिन्न नेवार को भनि बिभिन्न किताब पढें, यस्तो सम्म देखेंकी भारतको नायर ठाउंबाट आएकोले नेवार भयो भन्ने पनि छन। तर सरले बाहुन र मंगोलको मिश्रित भनाइ मा मान्न सक्दिन। किनकी नेपालको इतिहास सबै जब पृथ्बी नारायण शाहले देश जितेको भएतापनि 4 जात 36 वर्णको फुलवारी भनेको भनि लेखेको छ। नेपालको सबै इतिहास सबै जलाउने कार्य भयो। राजाको नाममा बाहुनको हैकम सुरु भएको मान्न सकिन्छ। राजाको आंखा, कान र मुख नै बाहुनको शब्द हो। एकिकरण नभै बाहुनकरणको ब्यबस्था शुरु भयो र बिहार ( बाःहा) भत्काउने ( हुनत सिध्दिनरसिं मल्लले ललितपुर ( यलः ) बिहार भत्काएर कृष्ण मंदिर बनायो ) किनकी लिछवीकालमा पनि बाहुन नेपालमा थियो भनि " श्री सुनयश्री मिश्र संसकारित यंपी बिहार ) ई बही अहिले सम्म पनि छ। तर सुनयश्री मिश्र बौध्द थियो। कुनै जात ब्यबस्था नएकोले नै स्वर्ण युग मानेको हुन पर्छ। पृथ्बी नारायण शाहले एकिकरण गरेको भए जातीमा बिभाजन नगरी 4 जात 36 वर्णको कारण धेरैले पढाइबाट बंचित भएको र केवल बाहुनको मात्र उन्नती गर्नेलाइ एकिकारण कसरी मान्ने ? जयस्थिती मल्ल दक्षिण भारतबाट डोल झिकाएर राजल्ल मल्लसंग बिबाह गरी स्वास्नीको जात लिने कूजात हो। त्यसपछी नेपालमा ( नेवार बाट नेपाल भन्ने गर्छ ) हिन्दुकरण भयो। त्यसैले लिछवीकाल लाइनै स्वर्णयुगको मान्यता दियो। राजोपाध्याय एक दक्षिण भारतबाट भएका अग्नीहोत्री हुनपर्छ। हामी नेवारहरुको मृत्यु संस्कार गर्दा बलेको चिराग निभ्यो भने " अगिंमथ" बाट आगो लिएर आउन पर्ने थियो। 24 सै घण्टा आगोबालेर बस्ने हाल सम्म दक्षिण भारतमा चलन छ। 2040 सालमा एक जर्मनबाट इतिहासकार भारतबाट काठमाण्डौमा आएको थियो। मेरो भनाइ यो छ की जयस्थिती मल्ल, शाह र राणाकालमा सारा पौराणिक किताब र थ्यासफू हरु जलाएको प्रशस्त उदाहर्ण पाइन्छ। नेपालका इतिहास ( यलम्बरको नामबाट यें, यल हो ) र महाभारत को कथामा त " बार्बरीक" नाम दिएको छ। नेवारहरुले हाल सम्म यलम्बरलाइ आजु ध्योः भन्ने परंपरा छ। हाल पनि उपत्यकामा "इन्द्रजात्रा" नाममा चलेको छ।

Shresthas came as refugees to Simrangaurh Area and the Yadavs gave them shelter. Later, when the place was attacked again, Shreasthas fled as refugees to Kathmandu. Today, the Shresthas are considered indigenous while they call Yadavs, Prajapati of Madhes as Bihari refugees. Shresthas are most ungratefu.

The word Newar used to be originally only referred to the caste of Shresthas (that includes. Joshi, Pradhan, Malla, Amatya, Rajbhandari, Karmacharya, etc.) One theory from the Gopalrajvamshawali states that the ancestors of these Shresthas came from the Niwad region Karnatak in South India but they migrated up north and ruled in Simraungadh (around present Bara district) for about 8 generations as Karnatak/Karnat dynasty. These Karnat dynasty used to marry with Malla dynasty of Kathmandu so Mallas were familiar with them. When Tughlaqs/Muslims attacked Simraungadh in the 1300s, these Karnats fled to Kathmandu and merged with the Malla dyasty. To avoid mass killing from the Muslims, they also brought other caste groups like the Dhobis (washermen), Kasais (butchers), Prajapatis (potters), etc. But since it was the ruling class who identified as Niwad>Newar, within time this identity started being applied to other section of the society too. So now a Newar includes anyone who associates with Newar language/culture. So certain groups like Jyapu (Maharjan/Dangol, etc.) or Udas (Tuladhar/Kansakar, etc.) or Barey (Shakya) who don't claim to be immigrants from Simraungadh nevertheless identify as Newar. At the same time, Malla kings patronized Maithil Brahman priests, they themselves got married to Maithil princesses and princes, brought in artisanal groups from India (like Tamrakars who were brought from Gujarat to make Krishna Mandir, they used to employ Maithil service castes as soldiers in wars, etc.) so there was regular influx of people from South. -Rajesh Pradhangana

I have nothing to say but if you have time to spare, read the Journal of Newar studies. the Journal of Newar studies states that some Newari people are descendants of the Kirat. this is what is printed on page 4 of the Journal of Newar studies. "Scholars such as Dor Bahadur Bista assert that the Newar speakers lived in the Valley of Nepal from prehistoric times. Many also believe that the Newars are the descendants of the Kiratas who ruled Nepal before the Licchavis in the Valley. The inhabitants of eastern Nepal such as the Limbus and Rais are the descendant of the Kiratas. Linguistically, Newar, Limbu, and Rai languages are classified as Tibeto-Burman languages. Tamang were the first to migrate around the hills of the present Kathmandu Valley, More than 5,000 years ago they came from Inner Mongolia through Tibet and settled on the surrounding hills of Kathmandu. By then Kathmandu Valley was a huge lake, which is why the Tamang settled on the hills. Even at present one can find Tamang living around the Kathmandu Valley rim and hills.

Tamang means cavalry in Tibetan language (ta=horse). They laid siege to Kathmandu Valley but could not penetrate through the defences. So they surround the valley still. Newar means people of Nepal Mandala and are the first settlers of the valley. Old Newar settlements are on high places like Sankhu, Tokha, Thankot and Khokana which were above the lake's waterline.

Basically, quite informative but credible sources need to have some authenticity in the described contents. You can do more social justice if you study the north Indian (Kamarup to Gandhar) Pala empire (8th-12th C. AD) which was a predominantly Vajra Yan Buddhist era. At the end of the 12th C. it was disintegrated due to several reasons - Muslim attacks as well - and many had to flee to save their lives, religions, wealth, and women. Many thus arrived in present-day Nepal's Kathmandu and eastern Terai and western mountains. It is very much likely that the Pala people, some still use it as their family titles, brought their social systems which they eventually enculturated with the dominant Valley's system and it so happened elsewhere too. Vajra Yani Acharya with Arya features thus got mingled into the late Lichhavi social patterns of the Valley. Later the Tirhuti social and Varna system was incorporated by the Karnat-vanshi clan chiefly by Jayasthiti Malla. King Hari Sing Dev was accompanied by hundreds of his subjects when they arrived in Bhaktapur after they lost the battle to the Muslims. This is one of the reasons why the Valley has so many north Indian Hindu caste names among the Newars. Did you know that newar never followed sati system. Sati system is where a wife immolating herself either on the funeral pyre of her dead husband or in some other fashion soon after his death. In newar culture there is a day where small girls are married to the sun god(meaning the sun was their first husband). I think its called bel bibaha. So basically even if their the husband dies, they always have their first husband as Sun. This was the reason newar never had sati system practised!. Newar culture is truly amazing

Jyapu is a seperate caste in itself with surnames like Maharjan, dangol, suwal, and 100s others. Shakya and Bajracharya are combined called Gubhaju-Bareju. They are not considered as Shresthas or as panchathariya level.

@@dineshsingh9665 they were Rajputs from Rajputana, present UP Bihar, they came with Muslim conquests especially after invasion of Mamluqs and Tughlaks. These Rajputs included Rathaur, Chauhan, Sisodias, Hadas, Chandel, etc. They came to Nepal and maintained their Kshatriya varna and started marrying with each other only.
